Desempleo y crisis Económica. Los casos de España e Italia
2018
Mobile Technology Adoption and the Effects of Cultural Factors
2019
Mobile technologies are an important part of human life in both the personal and professional realms. Many services (banking, news, health, education, etc.) that traditionally offered either face-to-face, telephone, or other conventional platforms and technologies are now establishing services on mobile platforms as well. Mobile gadgets are now also being used by company employees as sales automation tools. The importance of culture in technology adoption and usage has been well-established. The adoption of any technology includes a set of factors that determine if the technology is either accepted or rejected, and the individual strengths of these determining factors may vary greatly, depe…
On the Fundamental Period of Infilled RC Buildings
2015
This paper investigates the fundamental period of vibration of RC buildings by means of finite element macro-modelling and modal eigenvalue analysis. As a base study, a number of 14-storey RC buildings have been considered \"according to code designed\" and \"according to code non-designed\". Several parameters have been studied including the number of spans; the span length in the direction of motion; the stiffness of the infills; the percentage openings of the infills and; the location of the soft storeys. The computed values of the fundamental period are compared against those obtained from seismic code and equations proposed by various researchers in the literature. From the analysis of…
Entrepreneurship and Creativity Education in China: Reflections from an Experience-Based Approach to an Introductory Module in Entrepreneurship
2018
Building a competent and creative workforce is one of the greatest challenges of modern and future economies. However, fostering creativity and complex problem-solving capability has traditionally not been high on the agenda of our education systems. Drawing from the experiences of implementing an introductory first-year undergraduate module in entrepreneurship in the unique setting of modern China, the authors reflect upon the challenge of entrepreneurship and creativity education, as well as its implications for the next generation of a creative workforce in China.
Magneto-structural correlations in discrete $Mn^{II}‐W^V$ cyano‐bridged assemblies with polyimine ligands
2010
We present the magneto-structural correlations for two novel discrete cyano-bridged assemblies based on cationic complexes of manganese(II) with diimine ligands and octacyanotungstate(V) ions. The crystal structure of [Mn II (terpy)(dmf)-(H 2 O) 2 ][Mn II (terpy)(H 2 O)(dmf)(μ-NC)W V (CN) 7 ] 2· 6H 2 O (1) (terpy = 2,2';6',2"-terpyridine, dmf = dimethylformamide) contains dinuclear {Mn II W V } - cyano-bridged anions, while the crystal structure of [Mn II (phen) 3 ] 2 [MnII(phen) 2 (μ-NC) 2 -W V (CN) 6 ] 2 (ClO 4 ) 2 ·9H 2 O (2) (phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) is built of tetranuclear {Mn II 2 W V 2} 2- square anions. Intramolecular Mn-W magnetic interactions through the cyano bridges are repr…

Functional Extrapolations to Tame Unbound Anions in Density-Functional Theory Calculations
2019
Standard flavors of density-functional theory (DFT) calculations are known to fail in describing anions, due to large self-interaction errors. The problem may be circumvented using localized basis sets of reduced size, leaving no variational flexibility for the extra electron to delocalize. Alternatively, a recent approach exploiting DFT evaluations of total energies on electronic densities optimized at the Hartree-Fock (HF) level has been reported, showing that the self-interaction-free HF densities are able to lead to an improved description of the additional electron, returning affinities in close agreement with the experiments. Nonetheless, such an approach can fail when the HF densitie…

Constant Power Model in Arm Rotation—A New Approach to Hill’s Equation
2014
The purpose of this study was to further develop the constant power model of a previous study and to provide the final solution of Hill’s force-velocity equation. Forearm and whole arm rotations of three different subjects were performed downwards (elbow and shoulder extension) and upwards (elbow and shoulder flexion) with maximum velocity. These arm rotations were recorded with a special camera system and the theoretically derived model of constant maximum power was fitted to the experimentally measured data. The moment of inertia of the arm sectors was calculated using immersion technique for determining accurate values of friction coefficients of elbow and whole arm rotations. The experi…
Modeling the force – velocity relationship in arm movement
2012
Modeling the force-velocity dependence of a muscle-tendon unit has been one of the most interesting objectives in the field of muscle mechanics. The so-called Hill’s equation [1,2] is widely used to describe the force-velocity relationship of muscle fibers. Hill’s equation was based on the laboratory measurements of muscle fibers and its application to the practical measurements in muscle mechanics has been problematic. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to develop a new explicit calculation method to determine the force-velocity relationship, and test its function in experimental measurements. The model was based on the motion analysis of arm movements. Experiments on forearm rotatio…
