Background The association of gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST) and other cancers is well known, but its synchronous occurrence with gynecological malignancies is very uncommon. Usually, the diagnosis is accidentally established. We describe a patient with GIST and concurrent ovarian cancer and discuss the clinical implications of this finding. Case report A 64-year-old woman with a prior diagnosis of ovarian cancer developed a second recurrence after having undergone two operations and adjuvant chemotherapy. Im Tierexperiment wurden nach totaler Gastrektomie die Bildung eines Ersatzmagens mit verschiedenen Darminterponaten sowie der Oesophago-Jejunostomie mit Roux-Y-Anastomose durchgefuhrt. Bei der Relaparotomie nach 3monatiger postoperativer Uberlebenszeit wurden die Interponate an ausgewahlten Stellen morphometrisch untersucht. Als deutlichste Veranderung fiel bei allen Dunndarmersatzmagen eine starke muskulare Wandhypertrophie auf, die vor allem die Ringmuskulatur betraf. Beim Colonersatzmagen, der physiologisch eine dickere Wandmuskulatur besitzt, war die Hypertrophie sehr viel geringer. Im Rahmen eines Tierexperiments wurden resorbierbare Laktomerklammern (Polyester auf Polyglykol/Polylaktatsaurebasis) bzgl. ihrer Sicherheit und Gewebevertraglichkeit bei Magenresektionen untersucht. Bei Hausschweinen erfolgten Magenresektionen nach Billroth I (n = 10) sowie Roux-Y (n = 12) unter Einsatz resorbierbarer Klammern zum partiellen Verschlus des Magens sowie zum Duodenalstumpfverschlus. Die Nachbeobachtungszeit betrug 12 Monate. In ihrer Anwendung erwiesen sich die mit resorbierbaren Klammern bestuckten Nahtgerate bzw. die resultierenden linearen Nahtreihen als technisch unproblematisch und sicher. They show a great heterogeneity with respect to their histogenetic, morphologic and prognostic characteristics. GISTs are known with myoid, neural or mixed features of differentiation.
