On symmetric nonlocal games

2013

Abstract Nonlocal games are used to display differences between the classical and quantum world. In this paper, we study symmetric XOR games, which form an important subset of nonlocal games. We give simple methods for calculating the classical and the quantum values for symmetric XOR games with one-bit input per player. We illustrate those methods with two examples. One example is an N -player game (due to Ardehali (1992) [3] ) that provides the maximum quantum-over-classical advantage. The second example comes from generalization of CHSH game by letting the referee to choose arbitrary symmetric distribution of players’ inputs.

Further generalization of fixed point theorems in Menger PM-spaces

In this work, we establish some fixed point theorems by revisiting the notion of ψ-contractive mapping in Menger PM-spaces. One of our results (namely, Theorem 2.3) may be viewed as a possible answer to the problem of existence of a fixed point for generalized type contractive mappings in M-complete Menger PM-spaces under arbitrary t-norm. Some examples are furnished to demonstrate the validity of the obtained results.

In [59, 60], Bogel introduced a new concept of Bogel-continuous and Bogel-differentiable functions and also established some important theorems using these concepts. Dobrescu and Matei [80] showed the convergence of the Boolean sum of bivariate generalization of Bernstein polynomials to the B-continuous function on a bounded interval. Subsequently, Badea and Cottin [46] obtained Korovkin theorems for GBS operators.

The computational complexity of the criticality problems in a network with interval activity times

2002

Abstract The paper analyzes the criticality in a network with interval activities duration times. A natural generalization of the criticality notion (for a path, an activity and an event) for the case of network with interval activity duration times is given. The computation complexity of five problems linked to the introduced criticality notion is presented.

A Mönch type fixed point theorem under the interior condition

2009

Abstract In this paper we show that the well-known Monch fixed point theorem for non-self mappings remains valid if we replace the Leray–Schauder boundary condition by the interior condition. As a consequence, we obtain a partial generalization of Petryshyn's result for nonexpansive mappings.

An extension of the Burrows-Wheeler Transform

AbstractWe describe and highlight a generalization of the Burrows–Wheeler Transform (bwt) to a multiset of words. The extended transformation, denoted by ebwt, is reversible. Moreover, it allows to define a bijection between the words over a finite alphabet A and the finite multisets of conjugacy classes of primitive words in A∗. Besides its mathematical interest, the extended transform can be useful for applications in the context of string processing. In the last part of this paper we illustrate one such application, providing a similarity measure between sequences based on ebwt.

In this paper we present and analyze a generalization of the Powerp subdivision schemes proposed in [3,12]. The Weighted-Powerp schemes are based on a harmonic weighted version of the Power<emp average considered in [12], and their development is motivated by the desire to generalize the nonlinear analysis in [3,5] to interpolatory subdivision schemes with higher than second order accuracy.

New Developments in Quantum Algorithms

In this survey, we describe two recent developments in quantum algorithms. The first new development is a quantum algorithm for evaluating a Boolean formula consisting of AND and OR gates of size N in time O(\sqrt{N}). This provides quantum speedups for any problem that can be expressed via Boolean formulas. This result can be also extended to span problems, a generalization of Boolean formulas. This provides an optimal quantum algorithm for any Boolean function in the black-box query model. The second new development is a quantum algorithm for solving systems of linear equations. Extending Brauer's Height Zero Conjecture to Blocks with Nonabelian Defect Groups

We propose a generalization of Brauer?s Height Zero Conjecture that considers positive heights. We give strong evidence supporting one half of the generalization and obtain some partial results regarding the other half.
