Studies on zymogenicity and solubilization of chitin synthase from Candida albicans

The zymogenic form of the chitin synthase present in mixed membrane preparations was extracted by digitonin treatment. The residual extracted membranes exclusively retained the basal activity. Trypsin activation of the zymogenic form of the enzyme did not modify the digitonin solubilization characteristics of the original zymogenic form, suggesting significant differences between ‘in vivo’ activation of chitin synthase and that carried out by trypsin ‘in vitro’.

The effect of digitonin on chitin synthetase present in membrane (MMF) and cytoplasmic fractions (chitosomes) (CF) from C. albicans yeast protoplasts has been determined. The zymogen is preferentially, but not exclusively, solubilized by digitonin from MMF. This paper examines the impact of Spaniards’ and North-Americans’ level of context dependence (Hall, 1976) on the engagement markers (Hyland & Tse, 2004) used on the presentation page of 100 business websites from the toy sector (50 from Spain and 50 from the US). Fixed versus Growth Mindset Does not Seem to Matter Much

Psychology predicts that a student’s mindset—their implicit theory of intelligence—has an effect on their academic performance. We attempted to corroborate this in the computer science education context by asking the students on two bachelor-level courses, typically taken in the third year of studies, to fill out a standard mindset questionnaire, and analyzing their answers in relation to their grades on those courses.
