Integrated annual calcium carbonate production of planktic calcifiers in the North Pacific from the R/V Kilo Moana cruise KM1712

This dataset compiles the estimates of annual CaCO3 production, including the upper and lower limits of the estimates, for the 4 planktic calcifying groups considered in the study, the pteropods (mg/m²/yr), the heteropods (mg/m²/yr), the foraminifers (mg/m²/yr) and the coccolithophores (mg/m²/yr). The estimates derived from the living standing stocks of these 4 groups of organisms collected in the North Pacific between Hawaii and the Gulf of Alaska during the R/V Kilo Moana cruise KM1712 in August 2017. R code was used to calculate the integrated annual CaCO3 production for the different organisms, including the upper and lower limits (Gray, 2022).

Computed tomography imaging needs for novel transcatheter tricuspid valve repair and replacement therapies

Abstract Transcatheter tricuspid valve therapies are an emerging field in structural heart interventions due to the rising number of patients with severe tricuspid regurgitation and the high risk for surgical treatment. Computed tomography (CT) allows exact measurements of the annular plane, evaluation of adjacent structures, assessment of the access route, and can also be used to identify optimal fluoroscopic projection planes to enhance periprocedural imaging. This review provides an overview of current transcatheter tricuspid valve repair and replacement therapies and to what extent CT can support these interventions.

Fabry disease is an X-linked lysosomal storage disorder characterized by multi-organ dysfunction, including hearing loss - mainly sensorineural. The recent introduction of enzyme replacement therapy (ERT) has resulted in improvements in renal and cardiac function, pain and quality of life. One study has also suggested small improvements in high-frequency hearing. In this paper, we study the effect of ERT on hearing in patients in the Europe-wide database - the Fabry Outcome Survey (FOS). BACKGROUND: Intima-media thickness (IMT) is a validated marker of preclinical atherosclerosis and a predictor of cardiovascular events. PATIENTS: We studied a population of 529 asymptomatic patients (age 62 ± 12.8 years), divided into two groups of subjects with and without Metabolic Syndrome (MetS). METHODS: All patients, at baseline, have had a carotid ultrasound evaluation and classified in two subgroups: the first one without atherosclerotic lesions and the second one with preclinical atherosclerosis (increased IMT or asymptomatic carotid plaque). Design of an efficient digital down-converter for a SDR-based DVB-S receiver

This paper presents the design of an area-power efficient digital down-converter suitable for broadband communication systems. The DVB-S standard has been used as a design example. It has been shown that by selecting a bandpass sampling to generate only one spectral image, the case in which the relationship between the digital carrier frequency and the sampling frequency is 1/4, not only gives the smallest area but the lowest power consumption.

This paper aims to explore consumer attitudes toward using smart shopping cart, considering country of origin, gender, age, and intentions to use smart shopping carts while purchasing. Moreover, it investigates the influence of extracted factors on consumers' attitudes toward using smart shopping carts and the users' levels of digital competence. In a previous work (1), we found that a combination of liquid-over-agar-solidified MS (2) modified medium was superior to either all liquid or all solid medium for culture of Digitalis obscura L. mesophyll protoplasts. In order to achieve optimum culture conditions we now report on the influence of a different gelling agent (agarose) as well as the effect of several nutrient media on D. obscura mesophyll protoplasts development.
