Background: The aim was to clarify the occurrence of delayed union after surgical treatment of mandibular fracture and investigate whether an association exists between perioperative use of dexamethasone and delayed union. Material and Methods: Thirty-seven patients were included in a prospective randomized study. Of these patients, 19 (51.4%) were randomized to receive a total dose of 30 mg of dexamethasone and 18 (48.6%) served as controls. The purpose of this study was to examine the acute effect of resistance exercise (RE) on muscle androgen receptor (AR) and glucocorticoid receptor (GR) protein content. Fifteen resistance-trained men (n=8; 21+/-1 years, 175.3+/-6.7 cm, 90.8+/-11.6 kg) and women (n=7; 24+/-5 years, 164.6+/-6.7 cm, 76.4+/-15.6 kg) completed 6 sets of 10 repetitions of heavy squats. Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) frequently affects women of childbearing age in whom the desire to have a family raises the question regarding the potential risks for the fetus and the mother. The information on AIH in pregnant patients is scarce.1 The aims of this study were (1) to identify the risk factors associated with flares in pregnant patients diagnosed with AIH, (2) to determine the course of AIH in patients with pregnancy-related flares, and (3) to describe the outcome of AIH diagnosed in the postpartum period.

We describe an HLA-B8, DR3-positive patient with localized morphea after silicone gel breast implantation for cosmetic reasons. We believe that this case suggests that a genetic background, i.e. HLA-B8, DR3 haplotype, is involved in the autoimmune response to silicone.
