Per 1897 m. gyventojų surašymą Latvijos teritorijoje gyveno 24507 lietuviai, o 1913 m. vien Rygoje jų jau būta 34982. Po Pirmojo pasaulinio karo susikūrus nepriklausomoms Baltijos valstybėms Latvijoje 1925 m. buvo 23193 lietuviai, 1930 m. - 25885, o 1935 m. - 22843. Lietuviai labai harmoningai įsiliejo į visas valstybines ir visuomeninio gyvenimo sritis, kartu išlaikydami ir savo nacionalinį identitetą, sudarydami Latvijos valstybei lojalią, santykiškai didelę tautinę mažumą. Obstacles to intergroup contact: When outgroup partner's anxiety meets perceived ethnic discrimination

Emerging research suggests that outgroup partner's anxiety can disrupt intergroup rapport-building. This study extends previous findings by investigating the interactive effects of anticipated outgroup partner's anxiety and perceived ethnic discrimination on self-anxiety and intergroup contact avoidance. A sample of immigrant adolescents belonging to different ethnic minorities in Italy (N = 118) was considered. Results showed that when participants expected to interact with an anxious outgroup (Italian) versus in-group partner, self-anxiety increased and, as a consequence, their intentions to avoid future encounters. Background: In Germany, about 20% of the total population have a migration background. Differences exist between migrants and non-migrants in terms of health care access and utilisation. Colorectal cancer is the second most common malignant tumour in Germany, and incidence, staging and survival chances depend, amongst other things, on ethnicity and lifestyle. Fatal complication of sickle cell anemia in an immigrant patient rescued from the mediterranean sea

The aim of this case report is to share with the forensic science community the experience of a rare complication of sickle cell anemia: acute chest syndrome. In October 2016, at the port of the city of Trapani (Sicily, Italy), the landing of an ONG "Médecins Sans Frontières" ship took place with 548 non-EU citizens and a corpse on board. The man, in the hours before his death, complained of severe chest pain and respiratory difficulties, and, despite of the therapeutic aids and resuscitation maneuvers, lastly died. Background: Direct-acting antivirals are highly effective for the treatment of hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, regardless race/ethnicity. We aimed to evaluate demographic, virological and clinical data of HCV-infected migrants vs. natives consecutively enrolled in the PITER cohort. Methods: Migrants were defined by country of birth and nationality that was different from Italy. Mann-Whitney U test, Chi-squared test and multiple logistic regression were used. The aim of this study is to map the awareness of gender, socioeconomic, immigrant and ethnic health inequalities in health at schools, maternal health and traffic injury health prevention programs. The study was conducted in the 19 health descentralized areas in Spain, 17 autonomous community (ACs) and the 2 autonomous cities (ACities). The data were collected from May 2008 to January 2009.
