Intracerebral Hemorrhage and Outcome After Thrombolysis in Stroke Patients Using Selective Serotonin-Reuptake Inhibitors.

2017

Background and Purpose— Selective serotonin-reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) impair platelet function and have been linked to a higher risk of spontaneous intracerebral hemorrhage—an association that may be augmented by oral anticoagulants (OAC). We aimed to assess whether preadmission treatment with SSRIs in patients with acute ischemic stroke is associated with post-thrombolysis symptomatic intracerebral hemorrhage (sICH) and functional outcome. Methods— A multicenter retrospective analysis was conducted in prospective registries of patients treated by thrombolysis within 4.5 hours of stroke onset. The association between preadmission treatment with SSRIs and sICH (ECASS II definition [Europe…

Competitive Group Analysis of Public Transport Services

2007

Abstract The aim of the present paper was to evaluate five passenger transport service providers (EMT urban buses, METROBUS metropolitan area buses, RENFE local trains, METRO underground trains and trams, TAXI) in a tourism-receiving metropolitan statistical area of Spain. User perceptions of the public transport services were obtained and the results indicate that public transport is making great efforts to adapt to user preferences. Despite the general level of satisfaction with public transport, however, not all the brands are equally interested in differentiation. The brands with less well-defined positioning, perceived as less closely associated with the different attributes examined (…

Bloodstream Infections in Hospitalized Patients with COVID-19: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

2021

Background: Little is known about the occurrence of bloodstream infections in hospitalized patients with COVID-19 and the related clinical consequences. The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to estimate the pooled occurrence of BSIs among hospitalized patients with COVID-19 and mortality of this patient population. Methods: A systematic search was performed on PubMed, EMBASE, and Web of Science from inception to 19 April 2021. The primary outcome was the occurrence of BSIs among hospitalized patients with COVID-19. The secondary outcome was mortality at the longest available follow-up. Results: Forty-six studies met the inclusion criteria, with a total of 42,694 patients e…

Validation of the Five-Factor Self-Concept Questionnaire AF5 in Brazil: Testing factor structure and measurement invariance across language (Brazilia…

2018

Self-concept is widely conceptualized as multidimensional (Shavelson et al., 1976). The Five-Factor Self-Concept Questionnaire (AF5, Garcia and Musitu, 2009) assesses five specific dimensions (i.e., academic, social, emotional, family, and physical). It is a psychometrically sound questionnaire, developed, and normed in Spain, which is widely used with Spanish-speaking samples. The validation of the AF5 in Brazil would expand its potential, and would facilitate cross-cultural research. To validate the Brazilian version of the AF5, the present study apply confirmatory factor analysis and multi-sample invariance analysis across sex (women vs. men), age (11-18 years old), and language (Brazili…

Efficacy and safety of daratumumab, bortezomib, and dexamethasone (D-Vd) in relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma (RRMM) based on cytogenetic risk:…

2019

8040 Background: MM patients (pts) with high cytogenetic risk have poor outcomes. In CASTOR, D-Vd prolonged progression-free survival (PFS) vs bortezomib and dexamethasone (Vd) alone, and exhibited tolerability in RRMM pts. We conducted a subgroup analysis of D-Vd vs Vd in CASTOR, based on cytogenetic risk. Methods: Pts received ≥1 prior line of therapy. Cytogenetic risk was based on a combined analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) and fluorescence in situ hybridization/karyotype testing. High-risk pts had t(4;14), t(14;16), or del17p abnormalities. Standard (std)-risk pts were confirmed negative for all 3 abnormalities. Minimal residual disease (MRD; 10–5) was assessed via NGS usin…

Association between the interleukin-1beta polymorphisms and Alzheimer's disease: a systematic review and meta-analysis.

2008

Abstract The pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin(IL)-1β is a main component in inflammatory pathways and is overexpressed in the brain of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients. Several studies report associations between IL-1β polymorphisms and AD, but findings from different studies are controversial. Our aim was to verify the correlation between the single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the IL-1β, at sites − 511 and + 3953, and AD by meta-analysis. Computerized bibliographic searches of PUBMED and AlzGene database ( http://www.alzgene.org ) were supplemented with manual searches of reference lists. There is evidence for association between IL-1β + 3953 SNP and AD, with an OR = 1.60 (95%…

A systematic review and meta-analysis of the impact of WT1 polymorphism rs16754 in the effectiveness of standard chemotherapy in patients with acute …

2015

The polymorphism rs16754 of the WT1 gene has been described as a possible prognostic marker in different acute myeloid leukemia (AML) cohorts; however, it is not supported by all the studies. We performed the first meta-analysis evaluating the effect of this polymorphism upon the effectiveness of standard AML therapy. Fourteen cohort studies were included (3618 patients). Patients with the variant allele showed a significant higher overall survival (OS) at 5 years (OR: 1.24, 95% CI: 1.06-1.45, P = 0.007, with dominant model). WT1 did not influence complete remission, but a higher disease-free survival was observed with the variant allele. In the subgroup analysis, Caucasians, pediatric and …

Long-Term Efficacy of Maintenance Therapy for Multiple Myeloma: A Quantitative Synthesis of 22 Randomized Controlled Trials

2018

We aimed to quantitatively synthesize data from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) concerning maintenance for multiple myeloma (MM). We searched electronic literature databases and conference proceedings to identify relevant RCTs. We selected eligible RCTs using predefined selection criteria. We conducted meta-analysis comparing maintenance containing new agents and conventional maintenance, and subgroup analysis by transplantation status and mainstay agent as well. We performed trial sequential analysis (TSA) to determine adequacy of sample size for overall and subgroup meta-analyses. We performed network meta-analysis (NMA) to compare and rank included regimens. A total of 22 RCTs involv…
