Particle Detectors made of High Resistivity Czochralski Grown Silicon

2004

We describe the fabrication process of fullsize silicon microstrip detectors processed on silicon wafers grown by magnetic Czochralski method. Defect analysis by DLTS spectroscopy as well as minority carrier lifetime measurements by µPCD method are presented. The electrical and detection properties of the Czochralski silicon detectors are comparable to those of leading commercial detector manufacturers. The radiation hardness of the Czochralski silicon detectors was proved to be superior to the devices made of traditional Float Zone silicon material.

Hardening of Steel Perforated Tape by Nd:YAG Laser

2016

One of the directions of application of the perforated metal material is their use as cutting elements in the production of processing tools. In this case it is necessary to carry out hardening of cutting surfaces to increase their hardness. One of the methods of hardening metals could be laser treatment. Therefore, the present work is a study of the effect of Nd:YAG laser radiation on the microstructure and hardness of fragments formed from steel perforated tape. Different laser scan speeds (doses) were used in the experiments. The results have shown that the increase the microhardness of 30-40% after the laser treatment of steel perforated tape in the surface layer in a depth range up to …

Depth profiles of hardening in lithium fluoride irradiated with swift58Ni ions

2004

The changes of hardness and dislocation formation in LiF crystals irradiated with 630-MeV 58Ni ions up to a dose of 20 MGy were studied by microindentation and dislocation etching techniques. Above the threshold fluence of 2 × 1010 ions/cm2, a marked effect of hardening, which is related mainly to damage processes in the track core, has been observed. Its magnitude depends on ion fluence and energy loss. To investigate the depth distribution of hardening, indentation tests on crystal cross sections cleaved parallel to ion flux were performed. It has been found that the hardness change along the ion path correlates with the ion energy loss and reaches the highest value at the Bragg maximum. …

Peculiarities of Forming of Magnetic Hardening in Sintered Nd15Fe76.2Ti1.0Al0.8B7 Permanent Magnet by Ageing

1999

Variations of the intrinsic coercivity ( i H c ) with ageing (at 293 to 1173 K for 0.45 to 57.6 ks) of sintered Nd 15 Fe 76.2 Ti 1.0 Al 0.8 B 7 have been investigated. The tests indicated minimum and maximum of intrinsic coercivity ( i H min c and i H max c ) at temperatures 725 K and 1025 K, respectively. The observed behaviour of i H c has been compared with microhardness measurements and microstructure observations (SEM, EDAX, domain structure (DS) and room temperature Mossbauer spectroscopy). SEM and DS investigations gave hints to a change in microstructure. Fitting of the Mossbauer spectra of permanent magnets for different i H c has shown that the magnetic hyperfine field Bhf of 8j2 …

Ionic Nitriding of Certain Parts Protected on Nonfunctional Surfaces With Special Paints. Electric Energy Consumed

2021

The experimental researches on the promotion of new technologies for the local protection of metallic parts against plasma nitriding, led to two types of special paints for protection in ionic nitriding, paints elaborated on the basis of copper lamellar powder in combination with magnesium oxide and carbon tetrachloride. In the created context, it was considered that the elaborated paints could be used not only for preventing the hardening during ionic nitriding of certain technological surfaces of the parts on which they are applied, but also for coating certain nonfunctional surfaces, their degasification taking such a long time. These nonfunctional areas could be: surfaces resulted from …

Threshold Voltage Variability of NROM Memories After Exposure to Ionizing Radiation

2012

Threshold voltage (V-th) behavior of nitride readonly memories (NROMs) was studied after irradiation with photons (gamma-and X-rays), light and heavy ions. Both programmed and nonprogrammed single cells were investigated. The data suggest that two main physical phenomena are contributing to V-th variation and that the V-th loss and the variability can be modeled by a Weibull statistics with a shape parameter k similar to 2.2 regardless of the irradiation species and total dose. The same peculiarities were found in large memory arrays, confirming the results from single-cell studies but with significantly larger statistics. Hence, once the irradiation dose is known, the V-th loss distributio…

Size effects in micro- and nanoscale indentation

2006

Abstract The indentation size effect (ISE) has been studied in single crystals, polycrystals and amorphous solids using the Vickers microhardness test. The ISE is clearly present in single crystals but is absent in fine-grained polycrystals. A size-dependent hardness for amorphous solids is observed only in the sub-micrometre surface layer. The behaviour of the ISE in single crystals for micro- and nanoindentation is compared. Estimates of the surface hardness are made by the extrapolation of the experimental hardness–indentation depth curves. The extrapolated hardness in the surface region reaches values corresponding to the theoretical shear strength. The results confirm the multifarious …
