Valorization of Citrus spp. Cultivars cultivated in Sicily for the industrial use of citrus derivatives and in particular for potential alternative u…
2021
Long-term monitoring of soil bulk density and erosion rates in two Prunus Persica (L) plantations under flood irrigation and glyphosate herbicide tre…
2021
Abstract Early season fruit production for the northern European market is highly intensive in fertilization, machinery, irrigation and the use of herbicides. Those conditions increase the soil losses and soil compaction and threaten the Sustainable Goals for Development of the United Nations by 2030. Long-term soil erosion measurements are necessary to determine the sustainability of agriculture managements. Moreover, soil erosion on flood irrigation land is a topic that request more surveys and research as rainfed sloping terrains attracted all the attention of scientists and research investment. Improved Stock Unearthing Method (ISUM) was applied to two 15 years-old herbicide treated fie…
Application of solid-phase microextraction for determining phenylurea herbicides and their homologous anilines from vegetables.
2004
Abstract Residues of metobromuron, monolinuron and linuron herbicides and their aniline homologous were analyzed in carrots, onions and potatoes by solid-phase microextraction (SPME) performed with a polyacrylate fiber. A juice was obtained from food samples that were further diluted, and an aliquot was extracted after sodium chloride (14%) addition and pH control. At pH 4 only the phenylureas were extracted. A new extraction at pH 11 allowed the extraction of phenylureas plus homologous aniline metabolites. Determination was carried out by gas chromatography with nitrogen–phosporus detection (NPD) the identity of the determined compounds was studied by gas chromatography–mass spectrometry.…
Queen loss increases worker survival in leaf-cutting ants under paraquat-induced oxidative stress
2021
Longevity is traded off with fecundity in most solitary species, but the two traits are positively linked in social insects. In ants, the most fecund individuals (queens and kings) live longer than the non-reproductive individuals, the workers. In many species, workers may become fertile following queen loss, and recent evidence suggests that worker fecundity extends worker lifespan. We postulated that this effect is in part owing to improved resilience to oxidative stress, and tested this hypothesis in three Myrmicine ants: Temnothorax rugatulus, and the leaf-cutting ants Atta colombica and Acromyrmex echinatior . We removed the queen from colonies to induce worker reproduction and subjec…
Influence of organic amendments on diuron leaching through an acidic and a calcareous vineyard soil using undisturbed lysimeters.
2008
9 pages; International audience; The influence of different organic amendments on diuron leaching was studied through undisturbed vineyard soil columns. Two composts (A and D), the second at two stages of maturity, and two soils (VR and Bj) were sampled. After 1 year, the amount of residues (diuron þ metabolites) in the leachates of the VR soil (0.19e0.71%) was lower than in the Bj soil (4.27e8.23%), which could be explained by stronger diuron adsorption on VR. An increase in the amount of diuron leached through the amended soil columns, compared to the blank, was observed for the Bj soil only. This result may be explained by the formation of mobile complexes between diuron and water-extrac…
Effects of propanil on the European eel Anguilla anguilla and post-exposure recovery using selected biomarkers as effect criteria
2008
Abstract The aim of this study was to assess the physiological response of Anguilla anguilla to propanil and the degree of recovery after being moved to clean water. Preliminary acute toxicity test was carried out in the laboratory and the median lethal concentration (LC50) at 96 h was calculated as 31.33 mg/L (29.60–33.59 mg/L). NOEC and LOEC values (at 96 h) were also calculated as 20 and 25 mg/L, respectively. The fish were exposed to 0.63 and 3.16 mg/L of propanil for 72 h and allowed to recover for 144 h. Total proteins (TPs), γ -glutamil transpeptidase ( γ -GT), alanin aminotransferase (AlAT), alkaline phosphatase (AP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) and water content (WC) were assayed i…
Evolution of common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) resistance to herbicides : identification of genetic determinisms and application to molecular …
2022
Common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia L.), a particularly troublesome and allergenic weed, is mainly controlled in agricultural fields using ALS inhibitor herbicides. Recent cases of herbicide resistance have been reported in France and are jeopardising the efficacy of this mode of action. Both target site resistance (TSR, structural mutation in ALS gene) and non target site resistance (NTSR, regulatory and/or structural mutations in secondary metabolism) are involved. The fundamental aim of this work was to identify the genetic determinisms of resistance to ALS inhibitors that have evolved in common ragweed populations in France. As an applied objective, this work also aimed to prepare t…

Influence of photo-initiators in the preparation of methacrylate monoliths into poly(ethylene-co-tetrafluoroethylene) tubing for microbore HPLC.
2020
[EN] In this study, poly(butyl methacrylate-co-ethyleneglycol dimethacrylate) polymeric monoliths were in situ developed within 0.75 mm i.d. poly(ethylene-co-tetrafluoroethylene) (ETFE) tubing by UV polymerization via three different free-radical initiators fscce-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN), 2,2-dimethoxy-2-phenylacetophenone (DMPA) and 2-methyl-4'-(methylthio)-2-morpholinopropiophenone (MTMPP). The influence of the nature of each photo-initiator and irradiation time on the morphological features of the polymer was investigated by scanning electron microscopy, and the chromatographic properties of the resulting microbore columns were evaluated using alkyl benzenes as test substances. The …
A new tool to assess the ecotoxicological impact of β-triketone herbicides on soil microbial communities
2018
International audience; The β-triketone herbicides are post-emergence maize selective herbicides that have beenintroduced on the market, in replacement of atrazine, banned in Europe in 2004. Qualified as “eco-friendly”, since they are based on natural phytotoxin properties, these herbicides target an enzymeinvolved in carotenoid biosynthesis called 4-hydroxyphenylpyruvate dioxygenase (HPPD) encoded bythe hppd gene. The inhibition of this enzyme provokes bleaching symptoms, necrosis and death ofweeds. The hppd gene is not only find in eukaryotes such as plants, animals and humans but also inprokaryotes such as fungi, yeasts and bacteria. In recent studies, we showed that, within the soil bact…
