Sexualpädagogik: Notwendigkeit und Herausforderung Eine theologisch-ethische Perspektive = Sexuality Education: A Necessity And A Challenge A Theolog…
2021
The introduction of sexual pedagogy in kindergarten and in schools usually brings about tensions and conflicts which are often caused by the fact that parents are not involved. Important for reconciling the conflicting views is knowledge about the values that sexual pedagogy fosters and the aims it pursues. This contribution shows that aims and fundamental principles of sexual pedagogy are compatible with the major part of approaches to sexual pedagogy from a theological view. After that, the relationship between sexual pedagogy and sexual ethics is analyzed. The authors argue for the thesis that it is problematic so see sexual ethics only as a tiny part of sexual pedagogy and explain that …
IPMWORKS, a European network of pionneer farmers engaged to demonstrate cost-effective IPM-based strategies with low pesticide use
2022
Integrated Pest Management (IPM) is based on a diversity of pest management measures(prevention, non-chemical control, best practices for optimizing pesticide efficiency, etc.).These are combined at the farm level to enable reduced reliance on pesticides, and thereforea decrease in the exposure of the environment and people to pesticides. Rare pioneer farmersthroughout Europe are testing such IPM strategies and are succeeding in achieving goodoutcomes with low pesticide inputs. However the majority of European farmers still relyheavily on pesticides, with major environmental and societal impacts, because most of themhave not adopted a comprehensive, farm-level and holistic IPM strategy so f…
Developing the regional knowledge and sharing cooperativeapplications (TT Cloud)
2014
International audience; Since the 2000s, several researchers from various disciplines recognize and questionthe information structure as the communication processes in territorial approaches.Catalyse method modelled some, whose specifications have been described over thepublications of the INTI network (available on-http://halshs.archivesouvertes.fr/INTI/fr/) or disciplinary (see www.sfsic. org andhttp://rfsic.revues.org/).The structuring of information has seen technological developments described byother colleagues on INTI (JJ. Girardot, S. Damy, B. Hermann, P. Gerardin, G.Devillet...). The communication aspect necessary for this structuration must in turn bemodelled and positioned in the…
Kestääkö ääni? : laulunopetuksen vaikutus opettajaksi valmistuvien äänen laatuun ja ilmaisuun
2017
The aim of this study was to investigate how regular singing lessons and deliberate practice impact future teachers’ voice quality and their expression in speech and singing. Previous research about teachers’ speaking voice has shown that kindergarten teachers and classroom teachers are at high risk of showing symptoms or developing disorders, which weaken their effectiveness of expression. The study is qualitative and experimental and it includes longitudinal vocal education, which lasted one academic year. This thesis was approached theoretically through existential phenomenology with a holistic conception of man. Data was gathered from eleven subjects and divided into three research grou…
Towards an understanding of the caring phenomenon - why is it so topical? : a search for its role and its attributes in holistic education
2016
Traditional liberal education has provided one-size-fits-all schooling, followed by neoliberal policies in the past 30 years, resulting in losing the purpose of education to build well-rounded personalities and to ensure quality education for all. Instead, the ideal today is the homo economicus able to further personal goals on self-interest, and the global divide between the haves and have-nots has increased. The research problem rises from the alternative view to the purpose of education, to fostering the learner’s full human growth, and focuses on holistic education as expressed in the ethics of care theory of Nel Noddings and my life experiences in four diverse learning cultures. Meta-a…
Pragmatic and Informative “Wholes”: the Evolutionary Roots of the Human Language
2011
The study of the origins of language has been the interest of several ungrounded debates which have often affected its scientific plausibility. In this paper, aiming at an internally consistent interdisciplinary approach, I will adopt Botha´s “Windows Approach" (2006) in order to justify the following two assumptions concerning the evolutionary roots of human language: a) despite the uniqueness of human language in sharing and conveying utterances with an open-ended structure, some isolated components of our linguistic competence are somehow shared with non-human primates, grounding a line of evolutionary continuity; b) the evolutionary thesis which sustains that the very first “linguistic”…
Does Holistic Processing Require a Large Brain? Insights From Honeybees and Wasps in Fine Visual Recognition Tasks
2018
The expertise of humans for recognizing faces is largely based on holistic processing mechanism, a sophisticated cognitive process that develops with visual experience. The various visual features of a face are thus glued together and treated by the brain as a unique stimulus, facilitating robust recognition. Holistic processing is known to facilitate fine discrimination of highly similar visual stimuli, and involves specialized brain areas in humans and other primates. Although holistic processing is most typically employed with face stimuli, subjects can also learn to apply similar image analysis mechanisms when gaining expertise in discriminating novel visual objects, like becoming exper…
Neurosurgical post-operative complications with incidental life-saving findings
2021
Abstract Neurosurgery is one of the most complex disciplines, requiring skillfulness and ability to try to cure nervous pathologies. Despite the role of this surgery in the inviolability of life, complications are relatively likely. Complications are frustrating and they contribute to produce a wrong but physiologic guilty conscience. However, sometimes they can have a sense over the rationale. In our study, we present two examples of post-operative complications of common neurosurgical pathologies. We compared our experience with the complications reported in literature and analyzed the importance of seeing the patients in their entirety, so encouraging a mindful approach in our medical da…

The development of Early Mathematical Skills – A Theoretical Framework for a Holistic Model
2019
This article presents a theoretical framework for a holistic model of the development of early mathematical skills in early childhood education. The first aim of this study was to conduct a comprehensive international review of the literature to explore early mathematical skills categories. The literature review yielded three early mathematical skills categories, namely (1) numerical skills, (2) spatial thinking skills and (3) mathematical thinking and reasoning skills. Previous studies have shown that several mathematical skills develop gradually and simultaneously in early ages and that these skills areas are interconnected in mathematical skills learning. Accordingly, the second aim of t…
