Background Hunter syndrome (Mucopolysaccharidosis type II; X-linked inheritance; prevalence rate in Europe approximately 1:77000 male newborns) is a rare, progressive, multisystemic disease, caused by deficiency of the lysosomal enzyme Iduronate-2-sulfatase. Due to the very heterogeneous phenotype Hunter syndrome is often not diagnosed before pre-school age. This is unfortunate, because patients would significantly benefit from the earliest possible start of treatment containing enzyme replacement therapy. Catalase binding to amyloid fibrils has been shown for the Alzheimer’s amyloid-β (Aβ), type 2 diabetes-associated islet amyloid polypeptide (IAPP) and Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease-associated prion protein (PrP). Catalase targets a specific domain with a GAII-like sequence and there are a number of other amyloid fibril-forming proteins that contain related sequences, such as the Parkinson’s associated α-synuclein protein and the Huntington disease protein Huntingtin. The current magnitude of big-game hunting has outpaced the natural growth of populations, making artificial breeding necessary to rapidly boost hunted populations. In this study, we evaluated if the rapid increase of red deer (Cervus elaphus) abundance, caused by the growing popularity of big-game hunting, has impacted the natural genetic diversity of the species. We compared several genetic diversity metrics between 37 fenced populations subject to intensive management and 21 wild free-ranging populations. This first synthesis concerns the animal bones, discovered since 1975 in Aventicum, the capital of Roman Switzerland. It is supported by the analysis of several residential districts, public sectors and suburbs, which represent five hundred chronological complexes and 74000 animal bones, dated from the Ist, to the IVth Century AD. Ucichły już wprawdzie kontrowersje wokół interpretacji polowania na czarownice/czarowników, które w latach siedemdziesiątych i osiemdziesiątych XX w. były przedmiotem ostrego sporu między inicjatywami kobiecymi a ówczesnymi badaczami problematyki, którymi wówczas byli prawie wyłącznie mężczyźni.
