Universal Design of ICT for Emergency Management from Stakeholders’ Perspective
2020
While Universal Design principles have been adopted in many areas to ensure that products and services are usable for the broadest possible diversity of users, there is still an open area when it comes to the emergency management domain. This article aims at providing a systematic overview of the current state of the emerging research field of Universal Design of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Emergency Management, and to highlight high-impact research opportunities to ensure that the increasing introduction of ICT in Emergency Management can contribute to removing barriers instead of adding more barriers, in particular for the elderly and people with disabilities. A sys…
Human capital evaluation in knowledge-based organizations based on big data analytics
2020
Abstract Starting from a Human Capital Analysis Model, this work introduces an original methodology for evaluating the performance of employees. The proposed architecture, particularly well suited to the special needs of knowledge-based organizations, is articulated into a framework able to manage cases where data is missing and an adaptive scoring algorithm takes into account seniority, performance, and performance evolution trends, allowing employee evaluation over longer periods. We developed a flexible software tool that gathers data from organizations in an automatic way – through adapted connectors – and generates abundant results on the measurement and distribution of employees’ perf…
SEMANTIC MANAGEMENT OF INTELLIGENT MULTI-AGENTS SYSTEMS IN A 3D ENVIRONMENT
2011
8 pages; International audience; This paper presents a new approach combining the 3D elements composing the environment of mobile agents with semantic descriptors from Building Information Models. Our proposal is based on the IFC standard, which is used in the field of Civil Engineering to build digital models of buildings during the design phase. The semantic of IFC objects composing the 3D environment is used to select and set up 3D objects and elements of simulation scenarios. The result of this process dynamically generates the input files for the JaSIM environment that performs the simulation. These files deserve the representation of the virtual environment in which the simulation is …
Accessibility of Norwegian Municipalities Websites: An Interactive Learning Environment Experimental Investigation
2016
Accessibility is an important aspect of websites generally and public websites particularly. Many ways could be proposed to enhance accessibility, however the impact of selected actions is hard to predict due to diversification and contradiction, in addition to the existence of the time factor. A System Dynamics simulation model including factors affecting the accessibility of Norwegian municipal websites was encapsulated in an Interactive Learning Environment (ILE). As the model promised to be able to change how users think and take decisions, this ILE was tested by users in an experiment. We have conducted a#x03B1;, a#x03B2;, and a#x03B3; change analysis on the results of this experiment.…
The Co-creation Canvas
2021
Abstract Digital transformation has become an increasingly important topic among enterprises and in research. The adoption of enterprise systems is such an investment, and it usually requires significant change management activities to realize the potential benefits. One important issue is how firms should go about to make investments in appropriate digital technology – and the appropriate changes to organizational processes and business models. This is particularly challenging for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). They generally have very limited resources, and they usually depend on external input and cooperation with other companies. Therefore, a successful strategy for many SME…
Access Control Model for Cooperative Healthcare Environments: Modeling and Verification
2016
Integrated use of electronic health records (EHRs) seem both promising and necessary in improving the quality and delivery of health services. This allows healthcare providers access to information they require to provide rapid patient care. Of course, when sensitive information is shared among a group of people within or across organizations, enforceable security and privacy control over the information flow is a key aspect. In this study, an access control model for cooperative healthcare environments is presented. A work-based access control (WBAC) model is proposed by introducing the concept of team role and modifying the user-role assignment model from previous work. Verification indic…
Enterprise Architecture Adoption Challenges: An exploratory Case Study of the Norwegian Higher Education Sector
2016
Abstract IT is a challenge to implement Enterprise Architecture (EA) in an organisation. This is also the case in the public sector, like public universities and colleges. There is a very limited research on such issues. It is therefore important to investigate how AE is implemented in various sectors, which benefits are realised and which challenges are most prominent. This interpretive case study investigates the efforts taken towards a common EA in the Norwegian higher education sector. We find that the progress was severely impeded by the lack of top level directions from the ministry, the lack of an overarching architecture council, and the lack of EA competence at the top management l…
Co-creation in networks of SMEs: a conceptual model of the co-creation process
2021
Abstract The ability to adopt new digital technology is a very challenging endeavour, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), who because of resource poverty are dependent on external input and cooperation with other companies. Recent research has indicated that co-creation among SMEs is a promising way to overcome such limitations. However, there has been very limited research on the co-creation process, and we have little understanding about how SMEs would go about to establish and run a co-creation network. We propose a conceptual model based on our review of the literature and our empirical findings from investigating co-creation in four networks. The results expand ou…
Agility and system documentation in large-scale enterprise system projects: a knowledge management perspective
2021
Abstract The growth of the agile approach usage comes with a deemphasis on formal documentation (explicit knowledge) and an increased reliance on personal interactions (tacit knowledge) for knowledge transfer. However, the sharing of tacit knowledge poses challenges. The agile approach is prone to knowledge hoarding, as well as knowledge loss from employee turnover and reassignment during periods of significant organizational changes. This study proposes a model that frames documentation and personal interactions as co-agents of system knowledge transfer. We report the preliminary confirmation of crucial antecedents along the dimensions of codification and personalization strategies to supp…
