Bibliometric analysis of six nursing journals from the Web of Science, 2012-2017.

2018

Aim The purpose of this study was to perform a bibliometric analysis of the six most important nursing journals according to the impact factor of the Science Citation Index through Web of Science®. The following journals were included: International Journal of Nursing Studies, Nurse Education Today, Journal of Nursing Scholarship, Nursing Outlook, Worldviews on Evidence‐Based Nursing and the Journal of Advanced Nursing. Background In the nursing field, bibliometric analysis and maps have been used to analyse the production of some journals but not for the comparison of different journals. Design/Method Using descriptive bibliometrics, we studied scientific production of different journals a…

Quality of reporting in abstracts of RCTs published in emergency medicine journals: a protocol for a systematic survey of the literature

2017

Introduction The quality of reporting of abstracts of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) in major general medical journals and in some category-specific journals was shown to be poor before the publication of the ConsolidatedStandards of ReportingTrials (CONSORT) extension for abstracts in 2008, and an improvement in the quality of reporting of abstracts was observed after its publication. The effect of the publication of the CONSORT extension for abstracts on the quality of reporting of RCTs in emergency medicine journals has not been studied. In this paper, we present the protocol of a systematic survey of the literature, aimed at assessing the quality of reporting in abstracts of RCTs p…

The impact factor as a measuring tool of the prestige of the journals in research assessment in mathematics

2016

The (2-year) Impact Factor of Thomson-Reuters (IF) has become the fundamental tool for analysing the scientific production of academic researchers in a lot of countries. In this article we show that this index and the ordering criterion obtained by using it are highly unstable in the case of mathematics, to the extent that sometimes no reliability can be assigned to its use. We explain the reasons of this behaviour by the specific properties of the mathematical journals and publications, attending mainly the point of view of the researchers in pure mathematics. Using the Journal Citation Report list of journals as a source of information, we analyse the stability in the position of the math…

Early rehabilitation of cancer patients - a randomized controlled intervention study.

2013

Published version of an article in the journal: BMC Cancer. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1186/1471-2407-13-9 Open access Background: Faced with a life-threatening illness, such as cancer, many patients develop stress symptoms, i.e. avoidance behaviour, intrusive thoughts and worry. Stress management interventions have proven to be effective; however, they are mostly performed in group settings and it is commonly breast cancer patients who are studied. We hereby present the design of a randomized controlled trial (RCT) evaluating the effectiveness and cost-effectiveness of an individual stress-management intervention with a stepped-care approach in several cance…

How prior knowledge, learning, teaching and assessment affect students’ achievements in Mathematics

2020

2013

Background & Study Aim: Although judo is a sport with great tradition that is practised worldwide, the state of the art and scientific advances have not been analysed from a bibliometric point of view up to now. The aim of the present article is the status of the scientific production, collaboration, and impact of scientific papers on judo, as well as the most active research groups working on this topic. Material & Methods: Our analysis was based on documents retrieved from the Science Citation Index and Social Science Citation Index. Bibliometric analysis and network construction were performed using Histcite and Bibexcel software. Results: As a result, 383 original papers and scientific …

Percepción social de la importancia, el impacto y los beneficios esperados de la celebración de los Juegos Mediterráneos de Tarragona en 2017

2021

The purpose of this study was to analyse the evolution between 2009 and 2010 of residents of Tarragona's perceptions of the importance, impact and expected benefits of hosting the 2017 Mediterranean Games in Tarragona. A questionnaire was administered to two random samples of residents of Tarragona one year apart. The results showed high percentages of people who felt that this sporting event is either quite important or very important from an economic, social and sporting perspective and that it also has a high local and regional impact, albeit not so much at a national or international level. The residents felt that hosting the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona would be quite a benefit to …
