Tuning of Extended Kalman Filters for Sensorless Motion Control with Induction Motor

This work deals with the tuning of an Extended Kalman Filter for sensorless control of induction motors for electrical traction in automotive. Assuming that the parameters of the induction motor-load model are known, Genetic Algorithms are used for obtaining the system noise covariance matrix, considering the measurement noise covariance matrix equal to the identity matrix. It is shown that only stator currents have to be acquired for reaching this objective, which is easy to accomplish using Hall-effect transducers. A practical solution to the problem of automatic word sense induction

Recent studies in word sense induction are based on clustering global co-occurrence vectors, i.e. vectors that reflect the overall behavior of a word in a corpus. If a word is semantically ambiguous, this means that these vectors are mixtures of all its senses. Inducing a word's senses therefore involves the difficult problem of recovering the sense vectors from the mixtures. In this paper we argue that the demixing problem can be avoided since the contextual behavior of the senses is directly observable in the form of the local contexts of a word. EMI Analysis in Electrical Drives under Lightning Surge Conditions

In this paper, a complete model of a power drive system including the earth electrodes is proposed to evaluate electromagnetic conducted interference due to lightning pulses. Circuit model of a power drive system is joined with a full-wave approach for the simulation of the time behavior of the grounding system. The proposed model enables to predict the electromagnetic conducted interference generated in the power drive system when lightning conditions involve the earth electrodes.

Analyses of known and new types of polyhalogenated aromatic substances in oven ash from recycled aluminium production

Abstract Persistent aromatic bromine, chlorine and mixed chlorine-bromine compounds were analysed from recycled aluminium smelter (ALS) ashes to explore the impact of brominated flame retardants (BFR) on their formation. Polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE) were the most abundant original BFRs found. Induction furnace ash contained tetra- to octa-BDEs about 2000 ng g −1 in similar congener ratios as the original scrap, but contents of nona- and deca-BDEs were only 25 and 5 ng g −1 indicating their significant degradation in ALS process.
