An acid extract from dissociation medium of sea urchin embryos, induces mesenchyme differentiation

1992

Abstract When material extracted by 1 M acetic acid from the dissociation medium of sea urchin embryos is added at low concentrations to isolated primary mesenchyme cells, it induces skeletogenesis. The same material added to dissociated blastula cells, or to embryos at the blastula stage, stimulates skeleton formation and pigment cell differentiation. On dissociated cells, it also increases cell reaggregation, thymidine incorporation and survival. On embryos, it induces exogastrulation and appearence of extraembryonic pigment cells. The activity of the extract is resistant to raised temperatures and partially to tryptic digestion but is abolished by trypsin treatment followed by heating. T…

Input-Output Feedback Linearization Control of Linear Induction Motors Including the dynamic End-Effects

2014

This paper proposes the theoretical framework and the consequent application of the input-output feedback linearization (FL) control technique to linear induction motors (LIM). LIM, additionally to RIM, presents other strong non-linearities caused by the dynamic end effects, leading to a space-vector dynamic model with time-varying inductance and resistance terms and a braking force term. This paper, starting from a recently developed dynamic model of the LIM taking into consideration its end effects, defines a FL technique suited for LIMs, since it inherently considers its dynamic end effects. The proposed approach has been validated experimentally on a suitably developed test set-up. Furt…

Broken rotor bars detection via Park's vector approach based on ANFIS

2014

Many attempts have been made on fault diagnosis of induction motors based on frequency and time domain analysis of stator current. In this paper, first the Park's vector transformation and frequency analysis for fault detection of induction motors are introduced. Then a smart approach using Adaptive Neuro Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is proposed. This approach uses the time domain features derived from the Park's vector transformation of stator current. By the proposed method, a partial break including 5 mm crack on a bar, one broken bar and two broken bars using experimental data are investigated. It will be shown that features derived from Park's vector compared to features obtained fro…

Neural based MRAS sensorless techniques for high performance linear induction motor drives.

2010

This paper proposes a neural based MRAS (Model reference Adaptive System) speed observer suited for linear induction motors (LIM). Starting from the dynamical equation of the LIM in the synchronous reference frame in literature, the so-called voltage and current models of the LIM in the stationary reference frame, taking into consideration the end effects, have been deduced. Then, while the inductor equations have been used as reference model of the MRAS observer, the induced part equations have been discretized and rearranged so to be represented by a linear neural network (ADALINE). On this basis, the so called TLS EXIN neuron has been used to compute on-line, in recursive form, the machi…

Mechatronic Contouring System for Unconventional Sheet Metal Forming Processes

2006

This paperwork was developed in order to present the work concerning the use of mechatronic approach in the study of motion control systems for metal forming processes. The paper presents the use of low cost motion control systems, based upon induction motors, as driving systems in unconventional sheet metal forming processes. The main goal of this work was to implement a 2D contouring system for driving the active plate. The model of the system, simulations and some experimental work will be presented.

Speed and rotor flux estimation of induction motors via on-line adjusted extended kalman filter

2006

This paper deals with the estimation of speed and rotor flux of induction motors via Extended Kalman Filter (EKF) with on-line adjusting of the system noise covariance matrix. The predictor of EKF consists of a discrete time model obtained by means of a second order discretization of the original nonlinear model of the induction motor. In order to obtain accurate estimation of the above mentioned variables, the load torque is included in the state variables and then estimated. Three different system noise models are also illustrated and compared each other by simulations carried out in Matlab/Simulink environment. For one of these models, EKF is adjusted on-line by means of an additional PI…

Experimental EMF characterization of a secondary substation

2015

This paper presents the results of the experimental EMC characterization of a new medium/low voltage (MV/LV) secondary substation, which was developed in the framework of the research project "NEW CAB ELARC". It has two MV/LV transformers, with total rated power of 1000 kVA. To perform the experimental characterization, firstly an analysis was performed of the Italian and European standards recommendations. Different approaches were highlighted and the most appropriate procedures were identified for the measurement of the magnetic fields emissions, at power systems frequency (50 Hz) in steady-state conditions. A dedicated test lab was set up for the secondary substation characterization. Th…

Speed Control of a two-Degrees of Freedom Induction Motor with Rotor Helical Motion for Industrial Applications

2014

This paper describes the realization of a two-degrees of freedom induction motor prototype with rotor helical motion, suitable for several industrial applications as grinders, augers, drilling and milling spindles, robotic arms and drives for medical tools and prostheses. This prototype was realized by combining a three-phase tubular linear induction motor (TLIM) with the stator of a three-phase rotary induction motor, resulting in a THMIM (Tubular Helical Motion Induction Motor). Moreover, a possible simple electrical drive, capable to control the helical motion, is proposed, simulated and analyzed. In particular, the mathematical model of the THMIM has been initially developed and, then, …

Sensorless low Range Speed Estimation and Parameter Identification of Induction Motor Drives Devoted to Lifts Automatic Rescue Devices

2010

In this paper a sensorless rotor speed estimation and parameter identification algorithm is presented. The algorithm is designed specifically for induction motor (IM) drives devoted to automatic rescue devices (ARD) used in lifts and hoist applications. Its peculiarity is that it is based on the sinusoidal steady state mathematical model of the IM and, therefore, can be implemented on a low cost micro-controller in a simple way, however without lacking in terms of dynamic performance. It is also capable of self tuning so that no information is required about the specific IM used in the ARD drive. Finally the algorithm allows also an appreciable energy saving of the ARD when compared to olde…

PVDF based vibration measurements and their correlation with torque estimation in a FOC induction motor drive

2008

This paper presents a study concerning the vibrations generated by an induction motor drive controlled by field oriented control algorithm (FOC). The aim of the study is to identify suitable measurement points and analysis techniques in order to achieve information about vibration generated by an electric drive. Vibrations take origin both by the torque generated by the motor and the motor supply through an inverter, then they are transmitted to neighbouring structures. Torque is estimated on the basis of the estimated flux linkage; vibrations have been both measured and analysed numerically by FEM at two points of the cradle. The numerical and experimental analysis have been carried out fo…
