Jürgen Habermas and the risk of liberal eugnics for the ethical self-understanding of species
2016
The article analyzes the problem of human nature that presents Jürgen Habermas in his work The future of human nature, Towards a liberal eugenics? The rapid advances in biotechnology demand a rigorous bioethical reflection that the German philosopher confronts superimposing to his ethics of the discourse a new ethics of the species. Habermas outlines a model of human nature built on precepts such as human dignity and dignity of the human life, symmetry of people's inter-relationships and, as a result of these, the ethical self-understanding of the species. Regarding the liberal eugenics, the author criticizes positive eugenics and protects the negative one, for which bases its argument abou…
Jean Cocteau a l'escena catalana (1917-1966)
2012
2022
International audience; Climate change constitutes a threat to the health of society. More and more different organizations are developing reports and programs on climate literacy and culture. Likewise, educational institutions are assuming this responsibility in their teaching guides, including curricular sustainability. To assess the level of knowledge and perceptions of students and teachers of social sciences, an exploratory survey was designed for certain groups at the University of Valencia and the University of Alicante (Spain). The questionnaire contained questions on climate culture, attitudes and habits and a block of questions on the relationship between climate change and the Co…
2001
The contrastive analysis of a corpus of neologisms is an appropriate way to describe and analyse the mechanisms of lexical innovation used to update the lexicon. It also shows the degree of linguistic coincidence and helps make hypotheses on the influence of some languages on others. The synchronic study of several neologisms from the Neology Observatory highlights the degree of coincidence and divergence between Catalan and Spanish with respect to two aspects: (i) the mechanisms of innovation (morphological, semantics and borrowings) and (ii) the resulting neologisms. This analysis also allows to make some hypotheses about the influence of Spanish and other languages on Catalan.
El dantisme de Manuel de Montoliu
2007
In the year 1903 Manuel de Montoliu published the first Catalan version, in prose and poetry, of "La Vida Nova", which meant an important stage within the history of pre-Raphaelitism and modernism in Catalonia. In this article the first Dantesque influences in the poetic production of the translator will be detected, the stage of preparation and of presentation of the text will be analysed and, finally, the article will study the progressions that the exegesis of Dante's work determines in Montoliu's thought. This global vision will leave a redimensioned image of the critic which concerns the originality of his positions, and it will be demonstrated that the interpretati…
