Making and breaking relationships on social media: the impacts of brand and influencer betrayals
2021
This study considers how the relationships between social media influencers, brands and individuals are intertwined on social media and analyses the spill-over effects of feelings of betrayal. An experimental design with two transgression scenarios (influencer vs. brand) was created, and 250 individuals were recruited to participate in the study. The results show that a perceived betrayal by a brand can negatively affect the perceived coolness of the social media influencer that has endorsed the brand, as well as the parasocial relationships that followers have with the influencer. Accordingly, a perceived betrayal by a social media influencer can negatively affect attitudes, trust and purc…
Il satiro come maestro di moralità. Una stravagante invenzione di Jan Kochanowski
2016
Three visits of Jan Kochanowski in Padua, at that time under the rule of the Republic of Venice which influenced both cultural and intellectual life in the city, had a considerable impact on his literary output. This essay proves that there was a significant mark of the Serenissima entering into the theatrical life, related to one of his earliest texts, Satyr albo Dziki Mąz (The Satyr or the wild Man), dedicated to the king Sigismund II August and published presumably for the first time in 1563. An unsolved issue concerns not only the idea of making the Satyr a morality teacher, but also the question whether it was just a text meant for reading or for being performed in a theatrical form. T…
Uloga glazbe u dubrovackom pastoralnom teatru u 16. stoljecu. (The Role of the Music in the Pastoral Theatre in Dubrovnik during the Sixteenth Centur…
2004
The 16th-century pastoral plays in Dubrovnik (Ragusa), like the Italian ones which inspired them, are marked by the strong presence of sounds, songs and choruses to increase the fantastical and sentimental emphasis of the performances. Their evolution, from Dzore Drzic eclogues to the pastorals of Antun Sasin, and through Mauro Vetranovic's "Orfeo", is characterized by the acquisition of a Petrarchian language in the Croatian pieces of Nikola Naljeskovic. In the Dubrovnik pastoral plays, unlike the Italian ones, the presence of shepherds, nymphs, and rustic men (the "vlasi", Engl. Walachians or Morlacks) as well as the fantastic and comic elements, is constant. Music supports a narrative fu…
ÉTICA DE LOS CREYENTES
2011
In this paper I analyze the relationship between religious beliefs of individuals and their attitudes to certain moral and political issues. In some cases, certain behaviours of believers contradict the doctrines of the religions that they claim to profess, although they don’t feel less faithful. This dissonance between religious doctrines and beliefs of a religion’s followers can be explained through the concept of the privatization of religious beliefs, according to which at present, religious beliefs have lost their objectivity in the context of moral monism. Thus, the believers’ convictions are influenced by the social influences on the way the believer understand
Concentration depending fluorescence of 8-(di-(2-picolyl)) aminoBODIPY in solution
2014
[EN] An 8-dipicolylBODIPY derivative has been prepared and its photophysical properties evaluated under different conditions. Two different structures, hemicyanine and cyanine, are observed (depending on the solvent or the solution concentration). The hemicyanine form is not emissive whereas the cyanine form is fluorescent. This behavior is related with the planarity degree of the BODIPY core. The X-ray structure of the compound is reported and it shows that in solid state the hemicyanine form is present. The hemicyanine form seems to be stabilized by aggregation and is the main compound in concentrated solutions whereas the cyanine form is present in diluted solutions that are photochemica…
Simulation and experimental investigations on dynamic after cavity interaction (ACI)
2010
In recent years, the so called after cavity interaction (ACI) in high power gyrotrons operating in the 100–200 GHz range gained attention as an influence factor on overall efficiency. While investigations concentrated on ACI as a stationary effect until now, recent simulations show that an undesired interaction in the uptaper region can also result in additional parasitic oscillations. In this paper, such non-stationary, dynamic processes are investigated in first simulations and experiments.
Ekspansja tradycyjnej muzyki podhalańskiej na północ
2020
Alternative Civil Enculturation
2010
The article investigates the ways in which minority schools in Latvia, Estonia, and Slovakia resist the dominant narratives of nation and citizenship and provide an alternative model of civil enculturation for students. It provides evidence to support the hypothesis that differences between competing narratives of statehood and nationhood among schools of two major ethnic groups in each country constitute relatively separate models of civil enculturation that may be shaped by political and social factors outside the school, such as power relations among groups.
Making sides and taking sides: an analysis of salient images and category constructions for pro- and anti-Gulf War respondents
1998
This paper reports supportive evidence for a modified self-categorisation model of mass social influence, whereby category definitions are determined rhetorically and the character of collective action is shaped through category arguments. The study was conducted shortly after the Gulf War and was concerned with the respective constructions of pro- and anti-war respondents. Respondents were first asked to recall the images of the war which had most impact on them. They were then shown 29 images of the war and asked to rate the impact of each one as well as explain why they had given such impact ratings. Finally, they were asked to select the five images which had most impact on them. The re…
A new approach for modeling dry deposition velocity of particles
2018
Abstract The dry deposition process is recognized as an important pathway among the various removal processes of pollutants in the atmosphere. In this field, there are several models reported in the literature useful to predict the dry deposition velocity of particles of different diameters but many of them are not capable of representing dry deposition phenomena for several categories of pollutants and deposition surfaces. Moreover, their applications is valid for specific conditions and if the data in that application meet all of the assumptions required of the data used to define the model. In this paper a new dry deposition velocity model based on an electrical analogy schema is propose…
