Contextuality Analysis of the Double Slit Experiment (With a Glimpse Into Three Slits)

2018

The Contextuality-by-Default theory is illustrated on contextuality analysis of the idealized double-slit experiment. The experiment is described by a system of contextually labeled binary random variables each of which answers the question: has the particle hit the detector, having passed through a given slit (left or right) in a given state (open or closed)? This system of random variables is a cyclic system of rank 4, formally the same as the system describing the EPR/Bell paradigm with signaling. Unlike the latter, however, the system describing the double-slit experiment is always noncontextual, i.e., the context-dependence in it is entirely explainable in terms of direct influences of…

The role of guilt in the willingness to pay : application to purchase for the child and to purchase organic food products

2011

Guilt in marketing is a concept which is mostly analysed by anglo-saxon researchers. French research on this topic is limited. This concept has always been analysed as a persuasion tool or after a purchase. The guilt that could explain a consumer’s purchase doesn’t seem to have been analysed much. The purpose of this thesis deals with the following topic : the role of guilt in the consumer behaviour. We have particulary wondered whether guilt stimulation could increase the willingness to pay.

Conscious and nonconscious influences in the sensory domain

2013

Présentation (résumé 1 p.) ; http://www.pangborn2013.com/; International audience; Characterizing the relationships between conscious and unconscious processing is one of the most important goals of cognitive psychology. Renewed interest in the nature of consciousness has reignited long-standing debates about the reach of the unconscious -- the extent to which behaviour can be influenced by knowledge we are not aware of. According to Nisbett & Wilson (1977), subjects can be "(a) unaware of the existence of a stimulus that importantly influenced a response, (b) unaware of the existence of the response, and (c) unaware that the stimulus has affected the response." Many studies have now (argua…

Pleasure of eating: a lever for the adoption of healthy eating in children

2018

Childhood obesity, despite a recent stabilization, is still a matter of concerns in the European region and elsewhere (WHO, 2017), i.e. in France (where it concerned 17% of 3-14 y-old children in 2015; INCA3). Since many years, public health campaigns have encouraged healthy eating in many countries over the world, in particular by highlighting the beneficial effect on health of some food groups (e.g., in France “For your health, eat five fruits and vegetables a day”). However, the WHO noted in 2017 that among adolescents, “daily consumption of fruit and vegetables increased slightly between 2002 and 2014, but overall prevalence remains low ; and daily consumption of sugary soft drinks and …

Relationships among Hedonic and Utilitarian Factors and Exogenous and Endogenous Influences of Consumer Behavior in Tourism

2015

Customer experience is gaining more and more attention from researchers. Particularly in tourism, this experiences may be determined by hedonic or utilitarian factors. However, there are other influences, both exogenous and endogenous, that may impact consumer behaviors in tourism. Thus, in this article, we explore the receptivity of consumers in terms of certain types of influences, exogenous and endogenous, to hedonic and utilitarian factors related to a tourism package. To examine these research questions, we employ exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation modelling on a sample of 150 tourists from Europe and North America.
