Individual participant data systematic reviews with meta-analyses of psychotherapies for borderline personality disorder
2021
IntroductionThe heterogeneity in people with borderline personality disorder (BPD) and the range of specialised psychotherapies means that people with certain BPD characteristics might benefit more or less from different types of psychotherapy. Identifying moderating characteristics of individuals is a key to refine and tailor standard treatments so they match the specificities of the individual participant. The objective of this is to improve the quality of care and the individual outcomes. We will do so by performing three systematic reviews with meta-analyses of individual participant data (IPD). The aim of these reviews is to investigate potential predictors and moderating patient chara…
Connecting Disasters and Climate Change to the Humanitarian-Development-Peace Nexus
2022
As climate change increasingly affects the world, much is said about the rising amounts of aid required to support emergency response, long-term development to adapt, and peacebuilding to ensure that conflict does not undermine these efforts. Bringing these ideas together, some advocate for the addition of a separate climate change stream into the humanitarian, development, and peace/peacebuilding nexus (or triple nexus). Based on a critical literature review and synthesis, this article articulates and conceptualizes how climate change perspectives and actions should be integrated into the existing streams of the humanitarian, development, and peace/peacebuilding nexus, rather than being ad…

Eight science communication research projects have been funded by the European Commission since 2018. Together these projects have received almost ¿10 million in research funding, and each has been affected to some extent by the COVID-19 global pandemic. Political Consumerism and Food Community Networks
2011
European society, with its steadily increased welfare levels, is not only concerned about food (safety, prices), but also on other aspects such as biodiversity loss, landscape degradation, pollution of water, soil and atmosphere. To a large extent these concerns can be translated into a wider concept named sustainable development defined as a normative concept by Morgan and Sonnino (2008). Sustainability in the food chain means approaching a new emerging vision of a sustainable agro-food system introducing an institutional dimension to take into account. Among different attempts to conjugate such concepts, there is one that is taking place in many Regions of Italy. In the last years spontan…

2021
The article aims to highlight the long journey of the ideological and cultural instruments of the Sicilian “nation” which emerged in response to the reform program of the Bourbon Neapolitan government, a process in which judicial-baronial power, which represented and claimed Sicilian autonomy from Naples, played an important role. In particular, it is evident that the attempt to dismantle and readapt the ancient institutions of the kingdom was difficult and met with much resistance, and how it was easier to implement the reforms at the local level, which proved to be a more flexible and open ground for change. El texto resalta el largo viaje a través del cual surgieron los instrumentos ideo…

Designing Performance Management Systems in Academic Institutions: a Dynamic Performance Management View
2013
This paper illustrates how to design and implement performance management systems in universities by identifying and modeling those factors impacting on academic performance through a dynamic performance management view. Particularly, combining performance management with System Dynamics modeling may allow academic decision-makers to better identify key-performance drivers for pursuing a sustainable performance improvement in universities. In the second section of the paper, a number of examples based on empirical findings from a field project aimed at designing a dynamic performance management model for the University of Palermo are discussed.
