A multispectral imaging approach for diagnostics of skin pathologies

2013

Noninvasive multispectral imaging method was applied for different skin pathology such as nevus, basal cell carcinoma, and melanoma diagnostics. Developed melanoma diagnostic parameter, using three spectral bands (540 nm, 650 nm and 950 nm), was calculated for nevus, melanoma and basal cell carcinoma. Simple multispectral diagnostic device was established and applied for skin assessment. Development and application of multispectral diagnostics method described further in this article.

Cerebral microbleeds and vascular cognitive impairment

2010

Abstract MRI manifestations of small vessel diseases including white matter hyperintensities and lacunes have been recognized as potential substrates of vascular cognitive impairment for many years. Cerebral microbleeds (CMBs) – small, perviascular haemorrhages seen as small, well-demarcated, hypointense, rounded lesions on MRI sequences sensitive to magnetic susceptibility effects – are also now recognized as an imaging marker for small vessel pathology, but their clinical impact on cognition remains uncertain. CMBs are present in about a third of patients with ischaemic stroke, and in a high proportion of patients with Alzheimer's disease, cerebral amyloid angiopathy, and vascular dementi…

Evaluation of a multispectral diffuse optical spectroscopy device for assessment of cardiometabolic risk related alterations of body composition

2013

Cardiometabolic diseases encompass a combination of conditions which lead to an increase in the risk of cardiovascular disease and diabetes. With the increasing percentage of the population becoming overweight, it is important to diagnose when the excess adipose tissue becomes malign. The development of a safe, mobile, non-invasive method that would be easy to perform, and low-cost, but also would offer an accurate assessment of subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) both in lean and in obese persons is required. A prototype device using an optical method for measurement of the SAT in vivo has been developed, it contains multiple LEDs with four wavelengths (660nm, 780nm, 870nm, 940nm) distribute…

[Psychomotor disadaptation syndrome].

2014

We describe the psychomotor disadaptation syndrome and report the last findings on its physiopathology and therapeutic. This syndrome was first described by Pr Gaudet's team in 1986 and named "psychomotor regression syndrome". This name has been recently changed into "psychomotor disadaptation syndrome".The psychomotor disadaptation syndrome is a decompensation of postural function, gait and psychomotor automatisms due to the alteration of the posture and motor programming. That alteration is linked to subcortical-frontal lesions. Clinically, the psychomotor disadaptation syndrome is characterized by postural impairments (retro-propulsion or backward disequilibrium), non-specific gait disor…

PLZTx/65/35 ceramics (x = 2 and 4) under electromechanical and temperature loading

2010

The effect of uniaxial pressure (0–1000 bars) applied parallel to the ac electric field on dielectric properties of La-modified lead–zirconate–titanate, Pb(Ti,Zr)O3 (PZT), ceramics with Zr/Ti ratio of 65/35 was investigated. The experimental results revealed that applying uniaxial pressure leads to a reduction of the peak intensity of the electric permittivity (e), of the frequency dispersion as well as of the dielectric hysteresis. Moreover, with increasing pressure, the peak intensity of e becomes diffuse and shifts to a higher temperature. It was concluded that applying uniaxial pressure induces similar effects as increasing the Ti–ion concentration in PZT system. The obtained results we…

Röntgenkleinwinkelstreuung an isotaktischem und syndiotaktischem Polymethylmethacrylat in Lösung

1964

1972

Using CO2 in manometric control of continuous cultures (Sacch. cer.), the cultures were maintained constant ir intensity of metabolism in respect to CO2-production. The small fermentors (50 ml) are useful for investigations in metabolism under various conditions at a steady state.

Der Einfluss von Wechselströmen verschiedener Stärke auf die Antibiotikaproduktion durch Schimmelpilze in Oberflächenkulturen

1952

Low alternating currents between 8 and 50 mA have a stimulating effect on the production of antibiotics by moulds in surface cultures using the medium ofVincent. Small differences of current intensity at low ranges cause no principally different results. The production of all antibiotics formed by the same species of mould is increased under the influence of low alternating currents.

Weiteres zum Lichtsinn augenloser Muscheln

1954

The cycless musselsAnodonta cygnea andPseudanodonta complanata do not show any phototaxis. In the “Zweilichterversuch” (two-light-experiment) they react to the decrease of light intensity. If light is increasing, the mussels will not react; if put in the shade, they immediately do so. If the shadow is moved, the mussels even react when the intensity of light decreases much less, which demonstrates the importance of motion. From this it follows that the reception of motion may be considered as possible where there is light sensitiveness of the skin, and where the experiment connects motion with shading.

Spectroscopic ellipsometry applied to phase transitions in solids: possibilities and limitations

2009

The possibilities of in situ spectroscopic ellipsometry applied to phase transitions investigation in oxide thin films and crystals are examined in this work, along with the use of various parameters calculated from ellipsometric data (band gap energy Eg, refractive index n and surface roughness) together with the directly measured main ellipsometric angles psi and Delta, for the detection of phase transitions. The efficiency of spectroscopic ellipsometry on "surface" phase transition and its sensitivity to surface defects are also demonstrated.
