Abstract The technique of assembly by shrink fit is increasingly used today. However, the methodology of parts sizing has not changed in 50 years. Assembled parts are assumed to have accurate dimensions and very low form defects. This has the disadvantage of increasing the cost of parts production. To reduce manufacturing costs, the study of the influence of form defects on the characteristics of assembly strength is essential. International audience; Waveguiding by dielectric-loaded surface plasmon-polaritons (DLSPP) structures are numerically and experimentally investigated. We used the effective index model to understand the influence of basic waveguide parameters such as width and thickness on the properties of the surface plasmon guided modes. A waveguide was fabricated and experimentally studied. We consider a correlated Bose gas tightly confined into a ring shaped lattice, in the presence of an artificial gauge potential inducing a persistent current through it. A weak link painted on the ring acts as a source of coherent back-scattering for the propagating gas, interfering with the forward scattered current. This system defines an atomic counterpart of the rf-SQUID: the atomtronics quantum interference device (AQUID). Our knowledge of the factors affecting species abundances is mainly based on time-series analyses of a few well-studied species at single or few localities, but we know little about whether results from such analyses can be extrapolated to the community level. We apply a joint species distribution model to long-term time-series data on British bird communities to examine the relative contribution of intra- and interspecific density dependence at different spatial scales, as well as the influence of environmental stochasticity, to spatiotemporal interspecific variation in abundance. Summary Inhibition of P-glycoprotein represents an attractive possibility to modulate resistance of cancer cells to anticancer drugs. One major strategy to overcome P-glycoprotein-mediated multidrug resistance (MDR) of tumors is to increase intracellular concentrations of anticancer drugs. This can be achieved by blocking of P-glycoprotein-mediated drug efflux using synthetic or natural small molecules or monoclonal antibodies, which bind to various parts of the efflux channel. Latent measles virus infection in Vero cells depending on a temperature-sensitive phenomenon.

A latent infection by measles virus in a line of Vero cells could be maintained only at 37 degrees C. The conditions of temperature nonpermissiveness were associated with some block in virus production and/or release and with the establishment of an autointerference phenomenon. Reduction of the incubation temperature to 33.5 degrees C induced a rather rapid transition from the latent to a lytical infection with a recue of virus. The rescued virus exhibited a restricted capacity to grow at 37 degrees C.
