On Baer subspaces of finite projective spaces

Maps to Projective Space
2000
One of the main goals of algebraic geometry is to understand the geometry of smooth projective varieties. For instance, given a smooth projective surface X, we can ask a host of questions whose answers might help illuminate its geometry. What kinds of curves does the surface contain? Is it covered by rational curves, that is, curves birationally equivalent to ℙ1? If not, how many rational curves does it contain, and how do they intersect each other? Or is it more natural to think of the surface as a family of elliptic curves (genus-1 Riemann surfaces) or as some other family? Is the surface isomorphic to ℙ2 or some other familiar variety on a dense set? What other surfaces are birationally …
Dynamics of closed ecosystems described by operators
2014
Abstract We adopt the so-called occupation number representation , originally used in quantum mechanics and recently adopted in the description of several classical systems, in the analysis of the dynamics of some models of closed ecosystems. In particular, we discuss two linear models, for which the solution can be found analytically, and a nonlinear system, for which we produce numerical results. We also discuss how a dissipative effect could be effectively implemented in the model.
On Barbilian spaces in projective lattice geometries
1992
We introduce the notion of a Barbilian space of a projective lattice geometry in order to investigate the relationship between lattice-geometric properties and the properties of point-hyperplane structures associated with. We obtain a characterization of those projective lattice geometries, the Barbilian space of which is a Veldkamp space.
On the Use of Metal Purine Derivatives (M=Ir, Rh) for the Selective Labeling of Nucleosides and Nucleotides
2014
The reactions of neutral or cationic IrIII and RhIII derivatives of phenyl purine nucleobases with unsymmetrical alkynes produce new metallacycles in a predictable manner, which allows for the incorporation of either photoactive (anthracene or pyrene) or electroactive (ferrocene) labels in the nucleotide or nucleoside moiety. The reported methodology (metalation of the purine derivative and subsequent marker insertion) could be used for the postfunctionalization and unambiguous labeling of oligonucleotides.
Spin Crossover in Double Salts Containing Six- and Four-Coordinate Cobalt(II) Ions
2017
The preparation and spectroscopic and structural characterization of three cobalt(II) complexes of formulas [Co(tppz)2](dca)2 (1), [Co(tppz)2][Co(NCS)4]·MeOH (2), and [Co(tppz)2][Co(NCO)4]·2H2O (3) [tppz = 2,3,5,6-tetrakis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine and dca = dicyanamide] are reported here. Compounds 1–3 have in common the presence of the cationic [Co(tppz)2]2+ entity where each mer-tridentate tppz ligand coordinates to the cobalt(II) ion equatorially through two pyridyl donors and axially via the pyrazine, completing the six-coordination. The electroneutrality is achieved by the organic dca group (1) and the anionic tetrakis(thiocyanato-κN)cobaltate(II) (2) and tetrakis(cyanato-κN)cobaltate(II) (3…
A straightforward copper-free palladium methodology for the selective alkynylation of a wide variety of S-, O-, and N-based mono- and diheterocyclic …
2009
Abstract High-yield alkynylations are successfully achieved by a simple and widely accessible catalytic system for an unprecedented variety of heterocyclic bromides and chlorides in position -2, -3 or -5: pyridine, quinoline, thiophene, furan, thiazole, benzothiazole, pyrimidine, pyridazine, pyrazine, dioxepin halides are efficiently functionalized in short time reactions. This copper-free methodology employs 1 mol % palladium only, with inexpensive PPh3 and amine base. The ionic liquid solvent allows a straigtforward separation of products and recycling opportunity. Unsuitable substrates and secondary reactions are also reported in order to point out further progress in cross-coupling usin…
2,3,5,6-Tetrakis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine (tppz)-containing iron(II) complexes: Syntheses and crystal structures
2007
Abstract The preparation and crystal structure of two iron(II) complexes of formula PPh4-mer-[Fe(tppz)(CN)3] · 7H2O (1) and [Fe(tppz)2][Fe(NCS)4] (2) [tppz = 2,3,5,6-tetrakis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine; PPh 4 + = tetraphenylphosphonium cation ] are reported here. The structure of 1 consists of mononuclear mer-tricyano[2,3,5,6-tetrakis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine]ferrate(II) anions, tetraphenylphosphonium cations and crystallization water molecules. Three carbon atoms from three cyanide groups in a mer arrangement and three nitrogen atoms from a tridentate tppz ligand build a somewhat distorted octahedral surrounding around the iron atom in 1. The values of the Fe–C [1.925(6)–1.947(5) A] and Fe–N [1.870(4)–1…

Studies of the physicochemical and structural properties of self-assembling cationic pyridine derivatives as gene delivery agents.
2015
New amphiphilic pyridine derivatives containing dodecyloxycarbonyl substituents at positions 3 and 5 and cationic moieties at positions 2 and 6 have been designed and synthesised. Compounds of this type can be considered as synthetic lipids. The corresponding 1,4-dihydropyridine (1,4-DHP) derivatives have earlier been proposed as a promising tool for plasmid DNA (pDNA) delivery in vitro. In this work studies of the self-assembling properties of amphiphilic pyridine derivatives leading to the formation of liposomes, determination of particle size, zeta-potential and critical micelle concentration (CMC) with dynamic light scattering (DLS) measurements are described. Furthermore, thermal analy…
