Univariate and multivariate properties of wind velocity time series

We analyze the time series of hourly average wind speeds measured at 29 different stations located in Sicily, a region with a complex morphology. The investigation, performed from the univariate as well as the multivariate point of view, evidences that the statistical properties of wind at the single sites have features that are not reproduced by standard models and, thus, require specific modeling. Moreover, the synchronous evolution of wind velocity presents a cluster structure, obtained with different algorithms, that persists in the standard deviation too.

The observation of winged words on the Internet shows that the most memorable ones are those that come from the school reading canon and that they become an element of verbal-visual games in demotivators. At the same time, the Internet has become a catalyst, a place where very quickly the emergence of new units takes place. It is infl uenced by its unlimited range and technical capabilities that allow copying, duplication and modifi cation of new units. Adding a graphical element to them in the demotivators strengthens their impact on the recipient, allows them to evoke various emotions and, as a result, easier to remember and willing to share them with subsequent Internet users.

The article is a tentative analysis of the word-forming potential for Polish not only onomatopoeic verbs. As the input material for analysis, the author selected 84 word-forming nests of verbs, taken from Słownik gniazd słowotwórczych współczesnego języka ogólnopolskiego (Kraków 2004). The selected verbs are the base for nouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs. The derived nouns and verbs were divided into 23 semantic classes. Reciprocal Relations between Work-Related Authenticity and Intrinsic Motivation, Work Ability and Depressivity: A Two-Wave Study

This study investigates the role of context-specific authenticity at work for work-related outcomes (intrinsic motivation, work ability) and depressivity. Furthermore reciprocal relations between work-related authenticity and healthy psychological functioning are investigated. Longitudinal data from 1,243 employees from 63 subsidiaries of a non-profit organization in the social sector were analyzed using multilevel structural equation modeling. Work-related authenticity at T1 predicted work ability and depressivity, but not intrinsic motivation at T2, about 6 months later. Work-related authenticity at T2 was predicted by intrinsic motivation and depressivity, but not by work ability at T1. …

The employment quality in the sector of home care services raises a number of questions. In this sector, job positions are hard to fill and they meet unattractive working conditions. Overall, the sector is suffering from a rather negative image. This article, through a qualitative study, identifies the differentiation factors of employee satisfaction in terms of employment quality, and the work motivation factors, in an environment that is not always favorable. In the contexts where people with intellectual disability work, there are factors that determine their job satisfaction. The objective of this study was to test the adequacy of the central assumptions of the Job Demands–Resources (JD-R) theory in workers with intellectual disability employed in different work alternatives.
