En este artículo se evalúan y clasifican las revistas españolas de Ciencias de la Actividad Física y el Deporte (CCAFD), atendiendo a su calidad global. Para ello se aplica un modelo de evaluación, validado con anterioridad, que combina 23 indicadores relativos a diferentes características de las revistas (formales, de contenido científico y difusión). De esta manera pueden clasificarse las publicaciones periódicas en cuatro categorías de calidad: ‘muy alta’, ‘alta’, ‘media’ y ‘baja’. Assessment and classification of Spanish scientific-technical journals of Physical Activity and Sport Sciences

This paper evaluates and classifies Spanish Physical Activity and Sports Science journals according to their overall quality. A previously validated assessment model combining 23 indicators of style, scientific content and diffusion characteristics was used for this purpose. This model classifies journals into four quality categories: ‘very high’, ‘high’, ‘medium’ and ‘low’. None of the 28 journals studied fell into the top category, 25% fell into the ‘high’ category, 50% into the ‘medium’ category, and the remaining 25% into the ‘low’ category. Protons for Jehovah’s Witnesses? How press coverage of Ashya King’s case brought proton beam therapy to the public arena

The case of Ashya King, the child brain tumour patient whose parents took from a British hospital so he could be treated with Proton Beam Therapy (PBT) abroad, contributed to popularize that technology among a general audience. Through the content analysis of British and Spanish press coverage (N=329), our research shows that proton therapy enjoyed scarce coverage in the analysed media before Ashya King’s case. His story, magnified due to the fact that his parents were Jehovah’s witnesses was a cause both for public concern and media sensationalism. One-pot synthesis of fluorinated 2-amino-pyrimidine-N-oxides. Competing pathways in the four-atom side-chain rearrangements of 1,2,4-oxadiazoles

Abstract Trifluoromethylated 2-amino-pyrimidine N-oxides have been synthesized by reaction of the 3-amino-5-methyl-1,2,4-oxadiazole with trifluoromethyl-β-diketones in the presence of perchloric acid, followed by hydrolysis. In this ring-to-ring transformation an initial formation of (unisolated) 1,2,4-oxadiazole-pyrimidinium salts, and subsequent ring-opening at the oxadiazole moiety occurs. Isolation of 2-(hydroxyamino)-pyrimidine from the reaction mixture evidenced the presence of a competing pathway where the N(4) nitrogen of the oxadiazole is involved in the formation of a regioisomeric pyrimidinium salt. The effect of the trifluoromethyl group on the product distribution is discussed.…
