Mikrobiologiczne ogniwa paliwowe (MFC - microbial fuel cells) to urządzenia służące do przetwarzania energii chemicznej zawartej w materii organicznej w energię elektryczną przy pomocy mikroorganizmów. Wykorzystane mogą być z powodzeniem w procesach oczyszczania ścieków, obniżając ich koszty. Ta dwubiegunowość działania MFC wyróżnia tę technologię spośród stosowanych do tej pory w procesach oczyszczaniu ścieków. Stanowić może zatem przyszłościowe rozwiązanie powszechnie stosowane. Predictive value of p53, Ki67 and TLR5 in neoplastic progression of Barrett’s esophagus: a matched case–control study

Abstract Barrett’s esophagus progresses to high-grade dysplasia or cancer along the well-established metaplasia-dysplasia-adenocarcinoma sequence. The aim of this study was to evaluate the value of p53, Ki67, and toll-like receptor 5 (TLR5) in prediction of malignant progression of Barrett’s metaplasia and low-grade dysplasia. This was a retrospective matched case–control study based on Northern and Central Finland population. Patients diagnosed with esophageal high-grade dysplasia or adenocarcinoma were included. Bakalaura tēma ir “Optimāla palīgmainīgo izvēle neatbildētības nobīdes samazināšanai izlases veida apsekojumos”. Neatbildētība ir sastopama gandrīz katrā izlases apsekojumā, šī problēma ir bieži sastopama. Neatbildētība sarežģī statistiķu darbu, lai izveidotu ticamus, precīzus datus un secinājumus. Darba uzdevums bija aplūkot neatbildētības nobīdes samazināšanu ar palīgmainīgo palīdzību gan teorētiski, gan praktiski. Darba mērķis - atrast optimālu palīgmainīgo komplektu neatbildētības samazināšanai dažādiem apsekojumiem. Visi aprēķini tika veikti statistikas skaitļošanas programmēšanas valodā R.

Children’s Fruit and Vegetable Preferences Are Associated with Their Mothers’ and Fathers’ Preferences

Children’s preference for fruit and vegetables must emerge during childhood. At children’s homes, mothers and fathers influence children’s developing food preferences with their own preferences and actions. The purpose of the study was to reveal the association parents have with their children’s fruit and vegetable preferences. The study was conducted in a sample of Finnish mothers and fathers of 3–5-year-old children. The participants were recruited, and questionnaires distributed through early childhood education and care centers in 2014 and 2015.
