Background There are no national arrangements for free school meals provision in Norway despite this being an important opportunity to improve children's and adolescents' nutritional status and ultimately their physical and cognitive development. AbstractIn this chapter we examine a foreign language learning environment in a community-engaged setting in a Canadian city through a new materialist lens. As part of a service-learning project, Canadian students of Finnish language and culture visit a Finnish language seniors’ centre regularly to participate in different activities and spend time with the Finnish-speaking seniors. We examine the assemblage of the participants (seniors and students) and one artefact, a map, and offer a close analysis of the intra-action that takes place during one visit at the centre. Large-scale nonlinear dimensionality reduction for network intrusion detection

International audience; Network intrusion detection (NID) is a complex classification problem. In this paper, we combine classification with recent and scalable nonlinear dimensionality reduction (NLDR) methods. Classification and DR are not necessarily adversarial, provided adequate cluster magnification occurring in NLDR methods like $t$-SNE: DR mitigates the curse of dimensionality, while cluster magnification can maintain class separability. Tarkastelemme tässä artikkelissa, mitä oppilaat, opettajat ja opettajaopiskelijat raportoivat oppineensa yhdessä toteuttamassaan monialaisessa oppimiskokonaisuudessa, johon osallistuivat erään yhtenäiskoulun kaikki 5.–8. luokan oppilaat. Oppimiskokonaisuuden aihe oli terve elämä ja sitä opiskeltiin viikon ajan ikäsekoitteisissa ryhmissä tutkivan oppimisen keinoin ja monilukutaitoa harjaannuttaen. Tutkimusaineisto koostuu 250 oppilaan, 25 opettajan ja 23 opettajaopiskelijan laadullisista itsearvioinneista, ja se analysoitiin laadullisen aineistolähtöisen teoriaohjaavan sisällönanalyysin keinoin. Assessment is viewed as an internal and pivotal part of learning, where cultural factors, previous experiences, and future aspirations affect learners’ perceptions. In recent years, an increasing number of western universities have established their campuses or “dual” programmes in China. In the first Sino–Finnish programme, 293 Finnish and Chinese students participated in the same English for Specific Purposes (ESP) course. Aims: The aim of this study is to fill a gap in research on students' experiences of learning in student-centered assessment feedback practices. The article examines what students tell us about their learning in the context of student-centered feedback practices in higher education during online learning.
