Il contributo esamina le opere custodite nella chiesa di S. Benedetto, nota come Badia, di Caccamo, centro della provincia di Palermo. Si tratta di un edificio monastico appartenente alle monache benedettine che custodisce dipinti, stucchi, monumenti funebri, intagli e altre pregevoli opere realizzate tra il Cinquecento e il Settecento alcune delle quali commissionate da monache e badesse. Tra queste ultime Honufria Fara Lombardo che, figlia del barone della Scala e Manchi don Onofrio Lombardo, nel 1669 fa realizzare l’ostensorio in argento arricchito di diamanti e topazi ora custodito in Chiesa Madre. Il saggio esamina la statua lignea rivestita in lamine d’argento della Madonna del Carmelo e alcune suppellettili liturgiche custodite nella chiesa del Carmine Maggiore di Palermo. Si tratta di opere realizzate da artisti siciliani tra il Settecento e l’Ottocento. Collocato nell’antico mercato storico di Ballarò, la chiesa, con annesso convento dei PP. Carmelitani, custodisce opere che testimoniano la raffinata committenza dell’Ordine. The present study has investigated how fear-of-death activation affected consumer food product choices. Undergraduate students (N = 130; Mage = 22.7; Meage = 21) differing on the conscious fear of death level participated in this study. The participants were divided into two experimental and one control groups. In first experimental group fear of death was induced by asking the participants to read an euthanasia story, in second experimental group by asking them to picture their own death. Przedstawione badanie weryfikowało, jak aktywizacja myślenia o śmierci wpływała na wybory zakupowe produktów spożywczych. W badaniu wzięli udział studenci (N = 130; Mage = 22,7; Meage = 21) różniący się pod względem poziomu świadomego lęku przed śmiercią. Uczestnicy zostali podzieleni na dwie grupy eksperymentalne i jedną kontrolną. Nie aktywizowano myślenia o śmierci w grupie kontrolnej. W pierwszej grupie eksperymentalnej aktywizowano myślenie o śmierci przy pomocy historii o eutanazji, w drugiej zaś poprzez prośbę wyobrażenia sobie własnej śmierci. El golpe de estado de Primo de Rivera en septiembre de 1923 supuso una importante división del ejército en la provincia de Valencia. Gran parte de los mandos castrenses provinciales y regionales apoyaron el pronunciamiento, pero acabaron enfrentados al capitán general de la región militar. Tras esta tensión inicial el dictador consiguió crear una red de oficiales afines que dirigieron las principales instituciones militares en Valencia. La disciplina y jerarquía del Ejército español se transmitía así a la administración valenciana mediante tácticas clientelistas.
Lipschitz Functions on Submanifolds of Heisenberg Groups

Abstract We study the behavior of Lipschitz functions on intrinsic $C^1$ submanifolds of Heisenberg groups: our main result is their almost everywhere tangential Pansu differentiability. We also provide two applications: a Lusin-type approximation of Lipschitz functions on ${\mathbb {H}}$-rectifiable sets and a coarea formula on ${\mathbb {H}}$-rectifiable sets that completes the program started in [18].

Nilpotent Groups and Bi-Lipschitz Embeddings Into L1

We prove that if a simply connected nilpotent Lie group quasi-isometrically embeds into an L1 space, then it is abelian. We reach this conclusion by proving that every Carnot group that bi-Lipschitz embeds into L1 is abelian. Our proof follows the work of Cheeger and Kleiner, by considering the pull-back distance of a Lipschitz map into L1 and representing it using a cut measure. We show that such cut measures, and the induced distances, can be blown up and the blown-up cut measure is supported on “generic” tangents of the original sets. By repeating such a blow-up procedure, one obtains a cut measure supported on half-spaces. This differentiation result then is used to prove that bi-Lipsch…
