Reframing belonging : affective localism and the early fiction of Reino Rinne

2017

ABSTRACTThe early fiction of a novelist and journalist born in the north of Finland, Reino Rinne (1913–2002), is illustrative of the post-war interest in a redefinition of cultural belonging. The aim of this article is to offer a reading of Rinne’s works that throws light on the way they exemplify a post-war articulation of affective localism. What is especially characteristic of the affective localism produced in Rinne’s early fiction is the deployment of certain narrative elements, realism as an aesthetic regime, tropes of spatial belonging and historical myths that are endowed with affective charge. A comparison between Rinne's first novel Tunturit hymyilevat. Kuvaus Lapista 1900-luvun a…

Re-making teacher professionalism in England: localism and social responsibility

2017

Teaching and teacher education in England have been subject to thirty years of sustained public scrutiny and political intervention (Furlong, 2013). A range of technologies have enhanced central control and promoted cultures of disciplined self-steering. These include systems of specification (through Teachers’ Standards), measurement and comparison (through the audit of ‘hard’ performance indicators and periodic inspection of schools and teacher education), and prescribed forms of reflexive self-monitoring (quality assurance and evaluation processes). This article offers a critical analysis of the re-positioning of teaching and teacher education in England achieved by successive government…

Swarming : An Investigation Practice Supporting a Bottom-up Ecological Transition

2022

"IL RUOLO DELLE BANCHE LOCALI NEI PROCESSI DI INTERNAZIONALIZZAZIONE DELLE PMI MARCHIGIANE"

2008
