Japandi - skandināvu funkcionalitāte un japāņu minimālisms biroja telpu interjerā

2021

Performance and modelling of retention in microemulsion liquid chromatography

2020

Abstract The capability of liquid chromatography with microemulsions (MEs) as mobile phases was studied for the analysis of four parabens (butylparaben, ethylparaben, methylparaben, and propylparaben) and seven β-adrenoceptor antagonists (acebutolol, atenolol, carteolol, metoprolol, oxprenolol, propranolol, and timolol). MEs were formed by mixing aqueous solutions of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulphate, the alcohol 1-butanol that played the role of co-surfactant, and octane as oil. In order to guarantee the formation of stable MEs, a preliminary study was carried out to determine the appropriate ranges of concentrations of the three components. For this purpose, mixtures of varia…

Caliber-persistent Artery: A Case Report

2019

ABSTRACT The caliber-persistent labial artery (CPLA) is a vascular anomaly in which a main branch of the artery penetrates the submucosal area of the lip without loss of caliber. It commonly presents as an elevated soft tissue mass and is often pulsatile on manual palpation. Clinical suspicion is important, given the risk of bleeding, either from slight trauma or accidentally if lack of awareness leads to excision of the lesion owing to an incorrect diagnosis. CPLA should be considered in the differential diagnosis of any lesion affecting the lip, especially to differentiate from mucocele or squamous cell carcinoma. This particular case of CPLA in the upper lip of a girl presents a both unu…

Assembling a consensus on actinic cheilitis: A Delphi study.

2021

Aims: To discuss the terminology to define and classify actinic cheilitis (AC) and to build a consensus on the diagnostic and therapeutic approaches to AC. Methods: Two-round Delphi study using a questionnaire including 34 closed sentences (9 on terminology and taxonomy, 5 on potential for malignant transformation, 12 on diagnostic aspects, 8 on treatment) and 8 open questions. Experts’ agreement was rated using a Likert scale (1–7). Results: A consensus was reached on 24 out 34 statements (73.5%) and on 5 out of 8 (62.5%) close-ended questions. The response rate was identical in both rounds (attrition of 0%). AC is the term with the highest agreement (median of 7 (strongly agree; IQR: 6–7)…

Influence of segmental chromosome abnormalities on survival in children over the age of 12 months with unresectable localised peripheral neuroblastic…

2014

Background: The prognostic impact of segmental chromosome alterations (SCAs) in children older than 1 year, diagnosed with localised unresectable neuroblastoma (NB) without MYCN amplification enrolled in the European Unresectable Neuroblastoma (EUNB) protocol is still to be clarified, while, for other group of patients, the presence of SCAs is associated with poor prognosis. Methods: To understand the role of SCAs we performed multilocus/pangenomic analysis of 98 tumour samples from patients enrolled in the EUNB protocol. Results: Age at diagnosis was categorised into two groups using 18 months as the age cutoff. Significant difference in the presence of SCAs was seen in tumours of patients…

Ultrasonography for evaluation of the carotid artery in head and neck cancer.

1994

The dynamic relationship of lymph node metastases to surrounding vascular structures in the neck is important for preoperative patient assessment. When carotid artery involvement is suspected, this relationship often determines whether or not to operate. In the case of adhesive neck metastases along the internal jugular vein, it becomes possible to predict preoperatively if the integrity of this vein may be preserved. Ultrasonography has the ability to differentiate subtle from gross adherence, or simple compression from vascular invasion. This is done by manually palpating the tumor mass and asking the patient to perform various maneuvers while observing on a monitor the relationship of th…

Resolution of inherently chiral resorcarene derivatives by enantioselective HPLC

1999

Abstract The HPLC enantiomeric resolution of five inherently chiral tetrabenzoxazine derivatives of resorcarenes has been achieved by HPLC using Whelk-Ol and in one case Chiralpak AD as stationary phases. Enantiomeric separation was only observed in a very narrow range of mobile phase compositions. On-column enantiomeric interconversion of a racemic compound with a typical plateau-like elution profile was observed using a Chiralpak AD column

Bortezomib induces in HepG2 cells IkappaBalpha degradation mediated by caspase-8.

2006

The present paper demonstrates that the proteasome inhibitor bortezomib, which behaves as an apoptotic agent in hepatoma HepG2 cells, caused in these cells a decrease in IkappaBalpha level and a consequent increase in NF- kappaB activity. The effect already appeared at 4 h of treatment and preceded the onset of apoptosis which was observed at 24 h. Our results demonstrate that bortezomib-induced IkappaBalpha degradation occurred in conjunction with the activation of caspase-8; moreover, the decrease in IkappaBalpha level was prevented in a dose-dependent manner by the addition of z-IETD, a specific inhibitor of caspase-8. Bortezomib caused the same effects in non-tumor Chang liver cells, wh…

IL LATO OSCURO DELLA COLPA!

2018

Role of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) in diagnosis and treatment planning of two-rooted maxillary lateral incisor with palatogingival groove. …

2020

Background: The embryonic root groove is an anatomical abnormality that starts in the cingulum and extends longitudinally down the long axis root towards the apex. This developmental anomaly is more frequently reported in maxillary lateral incisors. Gu YC in 2011 established three types of radicular grooves depending on its severity. According to this classification, type III presents a greater diagnostic and therapeutic complexity. The prevalence of palatogingival grooves in maxillary lateral incisors ranges from 1.9 to 14%. This case report provides valuable information about the diagnosis and treatment plan of palatogingival grooves with Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan. Case re…
