Lately the interest towards open-air spaces, and mainly public ones, has drawn new attention thanks to the widespread phenomenon of a light transformation outside of the usual indoors container spaces. The park can be seen as a place for experimenting; it is possible to operate in the landscape and in the territory, and thus in the Park of Madonie, in a sensitive way: rather than building in a volumetric and traditional way, the use of light and of specific installations modify the way we perceive an artifact, the way we walk through it, the way we use it more than the individual artifact itself. Abstract Ethnopharmacological relevance This paper illustrates the results of an ethnobotanical study carried out in the Madonie Regional Park (Central Sicily, Italy). It specifies the medicinal uses of plants in the study area and contains the results of a quantitative analysis carried out for the first time in an area noted for its high degree of biodiversity. Rediscovery of Hieracium nebrodense (Asteraceae), a little-known endemic of Sicily (Italy)

Hieracium nebrodense Tineo ex Lojac., a little-known endemic of Sicily, has been rediscovered from the type locality after almost two centuries since its first and only collection made in 1830 in the Madonie Mountains (N Sicily). In line with the treatment in ‘Med-Checklist 2’, it is reclassified as a subspecies of H. schmidtii. A new combination is made and a detailed description and illustration are provided.

Il Parco Regionale delle Madonie, nel complesso montuoso che segna il limite orientale della provincia di Palermo, oltre a custodire notevoli beni ambientali, con rare specie di flora e fauna, vanta un ricco patrimonio architettonico, testimone della presenza secolare dell’uomo sul territorio. Queste architetture, inserite in contesti paesaggistici di grande fascino, coprono un vastissimo arco temporale che giunge fino alla metà del Novecento, comprendendo sia edifici religiosi (chiese e monasteri), che civili, nella duplice funzione di fabbricati per la produzione agricola (mulini, masserie, ecc.) e di residenze signorili.
