Association between clusters of diseases and polypharmacy in hospitalized elderly patients: results from the REPOSI study.

BACKGROUND: Although the association between multimorbidity and polypharmacy has been clearly documented, no study has analyzed whether or not specific combinations of diseases influence the prescription of polypharmacy in older persons. Performance of PSI, CURB-65, and SCAP scores in predicting the outcome of patients with community-acquired and healthcare-associated pneumonia

The objective was to compare three score systems, pneumonia severity index (PSI), the Confusion-Urea-Respiratory Rate-Blood pressure-65 (CURB-65), and severe community-acquired pneumonia (SCAP), for prediction of the outcomes in a cohort of patients with community-acquired (CAP) and healthcare-associated pneumonia (HCAP). Large multi-center, prospective, observational study was conducted in 55 hospitals. La detección de partículas de residuos de disparo (RDD) en las ropas de un sospechoso es una evidencia muy importante en los casos judiciales para determinar si la persona disparó o no un arma de fuego. MD Simulation Investigation on the Binding Process of Smoke-Derived Germination Stimulants to Its Receptor

Karrikins (KARs) are a class of smoke-derived seed germination stimulants with great significance in both agriculture and plant biology. By means of direct binding to the receptor protein KAI2, the compounds can initiate the KAR signal transduction pathway, hence triggering germination of the dormant seeds in the soil. In the research, several molecular dynamics (MD) simulation techniques were properly integrated to investigate the binding process of KAR1 to KAI2 and reveal the details of the whole binding event. Catalytic epoxidation using dioxidomolybdenum(VI) complexes with tridentate aminoalcohol phenol ligands

Reaction of the tridentate aminoalcohol phenol ligands 2,4-di-tert-butyl-6-(((2 hydroxyethyl)(methyl)amino)methyl)phenol (H2L1) and 2,4-di-tert-butyl-6-(((1-hydroxybutan-2-yl)amino)methyl)phenol (H2L2) with [MoO2(acac)2] in methanol solutions resulted in the formation of [MoO2(L1)(MeOH)] (1) and [MoO2(L2)(MeOH)] (3), respectively. In contrast, the analogous reactions in acetonitrile afforded the dinuclear complexes [Mo2O2(μ-O)2(L1)2] (2) and [Mo2O2(μ-O)2(L2)2] (4). First copper(I) ferrocenyltetraphosphine complexes: possible involvement in Sonogashira cross-coupling reaction ?

Preparation and characterization of the first examples of copper(I) ferrocenylpolyphosphine complexes are reported. The molecular structure of complex {P,P′,P′′-[1,1′,2,2′-tetrakis(diphenylphosphino)-4,4′-di-tert-butylferrocene]iodocopper(I)} (1) was solved by X-ray diffraction studies, and its fluxional behavior in solution was investigated by VT-31P NMR; both revealed a net triligated coordination preference of the ferrocenyl tetraphosphine Fc(P)4tBu with copper.
