In vitro assessment of a novel additive manufactured titanium implant abutment

Background Dental implant temporization remains a clinical challenge. A novel abutment simplifying the procedure was developed, but conventional fabrication was costly and unpredictable. A workflow was developed to fabricate the novel abutment using additive manufacturing. This in vitro investigation assessed the additive manufactured (AM) novel abutments to conventionally manufactured (CM) abutments. AbstractThis study quantifies how far snow can fall into the melting layer (ML) before all snow has melted by examining a combination of in-situ observations from aircraft measurements in Lagrangian spiral descents from above through the ML and descents and ascents into the ML, as well as an extensive database of NOAA surface observer reports during the past 50 years. The airborne data contain information on the particle phase (solid, mixed, or liquid), population size distributions and shapes, along with temperature, relative humidity, and vertical velocity. Instability of cuboctahedral copper clusters.

Equilibrium structures of copper clusters up to 10 000 atoms are studied using molecular-dynamics and effective-medium theory. Icosahedral closed-shell clusters are most stable up to \ensuremath{\sim}2500 atoms and the Wulff polyhedra are favored for larger clusters. Cuboctahedral closed-shell clusters up to \ensuremath{\sim}2000 atoms are unstable. They undergo a nondiffusive transition to an icosahedral structure at low temperatures and melt directly above the fcc-cluster-melting temperature. The melting temperature decreases with decreasing cluster size but not as deeply as has been reported for pure metals.

The oxidation of 4-hydroxy­azo­benzene provided a mixture of two azoxy compounds, which were separated by column chromatography. The isomer with the higher melting point appeared to belong to the α (ONN) series, as determined by X-ray diffraction. The mol­ecule, C12H10N2O2, is almost planar. The benzene rings are twisted by 11.7 (2) (substituted) and 4.1 (1)° (unsubstituted) with respect to the ONN plane. The mol­ecules are connected to one another by strong O—H⋯O hydrogen bonds forming chains extended along [001], which are bound by much weaker C—H⋯O hydrogen bonds forming layers in the bc plane.

A well-preserved sequence, by Archean standards, of mantle-derived metabasalts and metakomatiites forms large parts of the lower Onverwacht Group of the Barberton Greenstone Belt (South Africa). To elucidate the origin of mafic and ultramafic rocks from this 3.55 to 3.45 Ga sequence, we present a comprehensive geochemical dataset including major and trace elements as well as Lu-Hf and Sm-Nd isotope compositions for a variety of metavolcanic rocks. The waning stage(s) of the Tethyan ocean(s) in the Balkans are not well understood. Controversy centres on the origin and life-span of the Cretaceous Sava Zone, which is allegedly a remnant of the last oceanic domain in the Balkan Peninsula, defining the youngest suture between Eurasia- and Adria-derived plates. Igneous activity from the late Miocene to historic time (most recently 1891 CE) in the Strait of Sicily has created two volcanic islands (Pantelleria and Linosa) and several seamounts. Abstract Partial melting experiments with models of Archean oceanic crust (MAOC; with 11, 13 and 15 wt.% MgO) are used to investigate the role of metamorphism and melting of primary picritic compositions in the formation of TTG-like melts and continental crust on the early Earth. MORB-type neon in an enriched mantle beneath Etna, Sicily

Abstract Noble gas elemental and isotopic compositions were determined for five CO 2 –CH 4 samples collected around Etna, Sicily, to investigate the geochemical features of the mantle beneath the volcano. The samples contain mantle-derived noble gases. The measured helium isotopic ratios ( 3 He/ 4 He) vary between 5.9 and 6.4 times atmospheric ratio ( R a =1.4×10 −6 ), which are comparable to the ratios of olivines (6.1–8.2 R a ) in the lavas of the same volcano [1]. Neon in the samples is enriched in both 20 Ne and 21 Ne ( 20 Ne/ 22 Ne 9.95–10.7, 21 Ne/ 22 Ne 0.030–0.037), indicating derivation from the mantle.
