Abstract Age-related changes in joint tissues lead to osteoarthritis (OA). Detection of early changes in OA patients may help to initiate treatments before the establishment of irreversible joint destruction. STR/ort mice develop with age a severe degenerative joint disease that resembles human OA thus allowing the investigation of biochemical markers as well as new treatments in an accelerated time frame. A series of homobimetallic manganese cofacial porphyrin-corrole dyads were synthesized and investigated as to their electrochemistry, spectroelectrochemistry, and ligand binding properties in nonaqueous media. Four dyads were investigated, each of which contained a Mn(III) corrole linked in a face-to-face arrangement with a Mn(III) porphyrin. The main difference between compounds in the series is the type of spacer, 9,9-dimethylxanthene, anthracene, dibenzofuran, or diphenylether, which determines the distance and interaction between the metallomacrocycles. Metal–organic covalent network chemical vapor deposition for gas separation

The chemical vapor deposition (CVD) polymerization of metalloporphyrin building units is demonstrated to provide an easily up-scalable one-step method toward the deposition of a new class of dense and defect-free metal–organic covalent network (MOCN) layers. The resulting hyper-thin and flexible MOCN layers exhibit outstanding gas-separation performances for multiple gas pairs.

A manganese(IV)-oxo porphyrin catalyzes C-C bond formation between zinc porphyrins at the meso-position with a two-electron oxidant to afford the meso-meso linked porphyrin dimer efficiently. The meso-meso linked dimer is formed via formation of the porphyrin radical cation, and the rate-determining step in the catalytic cycle is the formation of a manganese(IV)-oxo porphyrin with a two-electron oxidant.

The luminescence spectroscopy study and the determination of the photophysical parameters for the M-M'-bonded rhodium meso-tetraphenylporphyrin-tin(2,3,7,13,17,18-hexamethyl-8,12-diethylcorrole) complex, (TPP)Rh-Sn(Me6Et2Cor) 1, was investigated. Changes in membrane fluidity of porphyrin-doped liposomes have been investigated to assess the kinetics of the fluidization process. Metal complexes of tert-butylphenyl mesosubstituted porphyrin, containing ions of Mg, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni and Cu, were used as dopants.
