Die Lebendkeimzahl in einer Suspension vonE. coli nimmt bei +4°C langsam zu, nimmt bei-5°C wenig ab und fallt bei-19°C innerhalb von 24 Std stark, wahrend die Verringerung in den folgenden Tagen nur noch gering ist. Streptomycin und Penicillin vermindern in allen 3 Temperaturbereichen die Keimkonzentration in Abhangigkeit von der Antibioticumkonzentration. Subbakteriostatische Konzentrationen von Streptomycin haben bei-19°C eine zusatzliche Wirkung. Die Resistenz der in uberbakteriostatischen Antibioticakonzentrationen bei diesen Temperaturen uberlebenden Keime ist gegenuber dem Ausgangsstamm weder erhoht noch vermindert.
Application of model quality evaluation to systems biology

Application of model quality evaluation to the quasispecies models is presented. These models are useful for the analysis of the DNA and RNA evolution and for the description of the population dynamics of viruses and bacteria. An estimate of the parameters together with their interval of variability is computed and the quality evaluation is tested on the basis of the model prediction error capability.

We analyzed the vertical profiles of microbial biomass indicators (PLFAs, DNA and RNA) and the bacterial and archaeal community composition (sequencing of 16S rRNA gene amplicons and qPCR of mcrA) in sediment cores collected from a typical small boreal lake. Cyanobacteria, also known as blue-green (micro)algae, are able to sustain many types of chemical stress because of metabolic adaptations that allow them to survive and successfully compete in a variety of ecosystems, including polluted ones.
