International audience; Linton Kwesi Johnson, dit LKJ, chanteur, poète et musicien de reggae s’est affirmé depuis les années 1960 comme un artiste noir de premier plan en Angleterre. Né en 1952 en Jamaïque, LKJ arrive à Londres parmi les dizaines de milliers d’immigrants antillais qui s’installent au Royaume-Uni à partir de l’après-guerre. Dans un contexte social tendu, marqué par le racisme et les violences policières auxquels font face les Antillais, LKJ développe une nouvelle forme d’expression artistique entre musique et poésie : la « dub poetry ». Ce faisant, il devient le porte-voix des luttes des Noirs pour leur reconnaissance au sein de la société britannique.

This study is a part of a research program aimed at understanding the reasons French-speaking Sub-Saharan African nationals settle in Europe and particularly in France. We decided to use metaphorically, the definition of motivation proposed by Vallerand and Thill (1993) to create an anonymous questionnaire to collect data on the construction of the migration process. All participants (N: 318) are French-speaking Africans, citizens of Sub-Saharan African Francophone countries, aged between 14 and 56 years old. Comparison of British and French expatriate doctors’ characteristics and motivations

Objective The aim of this study was to analyse the migration of doctors between the UK and France, in an attempt to identify the reasons for these migrations. Design This was a cross-sectional study conducted using a self-completed questionnaire. Setting The questionnaire was sent to all British doctors practising in France and to all French doctors practising in the UK. Participants The doctors were identified, thanks to official data of the National Medical Councils. There were 244 French doctors practising in the UK and 86 British doctors practising in France.
