Most examples of intercontinental dispersal events after the Miocene contact between Africa and Asia involve mammal lineages. Among amphibians, a number of probably related groups are known from both continents, but their phylogenies are so far largely unresolved. To test the hypothesis of Miocene dispersal against a Mesozoic vicariance scenario in the context of Gondwana fragmentation, we analyzed fragments of the mitochondrial 16S rRNA gene (572 bp) in 40 specimens of 34 species of the anuran family Ranidae. Abstract Purpose: Bendamustine is a new anti-lymphoma agent with promising activity. Based on a preceeding phase I study the current trial explored Bendamustine in combination with Mitoxantrone and Rituximab (BMR) in patients with relapsed or refractory indolent lymphomas. Patients and Methods: Patients with relapsed or refractory symptomatic stage III/IV indolent lymphomas with or without prior treatment with Rituximab were eligible. Therapy consisted of Bendamustine 90 mg/m2 days 1+2, Mitoxantrone 10 mg/m2 day 1, Rituximab 375 mg/m2 day 8. Treatment was repeated on day 29 for a total of 4 cycles. Such an unavoidable variant of cellular demise is generally referred to as ?accidental cell death' (ACD). Determination of lectin-cell-binding parameters by a new agglutination technique.

We applied a recently described technique which is based on a light transmission/scattering method to determine the association characteristics of the Geodia lectin to sheep erythrocytes. The agglutination assays were performed in a total volume of 3 ml with 5.4 x 10(6) erythrocytes/ml. At a concentration of 360 ng/ml 50% of the lectin molecules were bound to the cells within the first 10 s of incubation. Scatchard analyses revealed an association constant (K(a)) of 0.9 +/- 0.1 x 10(8) M-1 and a number of 3.8 +/- 0.6 x 10(6) lectin binding sites on one erythrocyte. Crosslinked xyloglucan-poly(vinyl alcohol) based hydrogel films are interesting materials for wound healing applications. This work focuses on the hydrolytic degradation and consequent morphological modification of a XG-PVA film and on its interaction with cells, blood, bacteria. Euonymus maackii Rupr. Seed oil as a new potential non-edible feedstock for biodiesel

Abstract In this study, Euonymus maackii Seed oil (EMSO) was exploited and evaluated for the first time as a new non-edible oil feedstock for preparation of biodiesel. The EMSO yield was 41.06 ± 2.68 wt%. The fatty acid compositions of EMSO involved palmitoleic acid (2.01%), palmitic acid (14.5%), stearic acid (3.1%), oleic acid (49.8%), linoleic acid (29.3%), 11-Eicosenoic acid (0.1%) and arachidic acid (0.07%). Microwave-assisted transesterification with methanol provided a high conversion yield in short duration under low temperature.
