Group mobility impact over TCP and CBR traffic in mobile ad hoc networks

We present an analysis of the effect that mobility models have over the performance of a mobile ad hoc network. We concentrate on group mobility because there is a growing attention on the development and evaluation of MANET's approach applied to personal area networks (PANs), especially based on Bluetooth technology. We investigate the effect that the mobility model has on the performance of CBR traffic and TCP traffic. Gestural and audio metaphors as a means of control for mobile devices

This paper discusses the use of gesture and non-speech audio as ways to improve the user interface of a mobile music player. Their key advantages mean that users could use a player without having to look at its controls when on the move. Two very different evaluations of the player took place: one based on a standard usability experiment (comparing the new player to a standard design) and the other a video analysis of the player in use. Both of these showed significant usability improvements for the gesture/audio-based interface over a standard visual/pen-based display. Studying these sources is necessary, especially for newer application areas such as mobile interaction with the real world. This study combined previous studies to form a categorization framework of dissatisfaction sources and gathered qualitative data using critical incident technique and overall evaluation questionnaire to describe the sources in detail. Developing MLS Location-Based Service Pilot System

Development of mobile networks and terminals provides basis for advanced mobile services and applications. One of the new features is support for locating the mobile user by her/his terminal. The Location-Based Services (LBS), utilising this feature, are expected to form an important class of the new services. At the Information Technology Research Institute, University of Jyvaskyla, LBSs have been studied in MultiMeetMobile research project. The project developed an LBS pilot system, called MLS. This paper presents the experiences collected during the development of the LBS pilot and describes the MLS system.
