Peer selection and influence : Students’ interest-driven socio-digital participation and friendship networks
2020
Digital technologies have been increasingly embedded in students’ everyday lives. Interest-driven socio-digital participation (ISDP) involves students’ pursuit of interests mediated by computers, social media, the internet, and mobile devices’ integrated systems.ISDPis likely to intertwine closely with young people’s social networks that has been scarcely studied quantitatively. To close this gap, the present paper investigated students’ peer selection and influence effects of the intensity of their ISDP and friendship networks. We collected two-wave data by administering a peer nomination to trace students’ friendship networks with peers and a self-reported questionnaire to examine student…
Socially-aware Dynamic Computation Offloading Scheme for Fog Computing System with Energy Harvesting Devices
2018
Fog computing is considered as a promising technology to meet the ever-increasing computation requests from a wide variety of mobile applications. By offloading the computation-intensive requests to the fog node or the central cloud, the performance of the applications, such as energy consumption and delay, are able to be significantly enhanced. Meanwhile, utilizing the recent advances of social network and energy harvesting (EH) techniques, the system performance could be further improved. In this paper, we take the social relationships of the EH mobile devices (MDs) into the design of computational offloading scheme in fog computing. With the objective to minimize the social group executi…
L'accès des ménages aux services dans l'espace périurbain francilien
2008
The access of populations to services, out of the dense urban centres, is marked by the retreat of the services of proximity to which populations and local councillors appear particularly attached. However, in peri-urban spaces, this remote setting of the resources compared to the populations is the result of the generalized adoption of the automobile standard for mobility and accessibility. That has two effects: first a disintegration of the local offer, then a disintegration of the modal alternatives to the private car, because of relocalizations of services and populations which privilege car for their accessibility and call into question their access by other modes like public transport…
"I just cursed and opened a beer" : Explaining Mobile Users' Non-Complaining Behavior Through Coping
2015
Many users experience frustrating incidents with mobile applications. However, most users do not complain about their highly negative incidents to the application providers. Such dissatisfied non-complainers cause damage to application providers: they tend to exit, switch, and spread negative word-of-mouth. Therefore, it is important to understand why mobile users do not complain about their highly negative incidents. Within information systems (IS), there are no explanations for this dilemma. To address this gap, we conducted a qualitative study. By utilizing the theory of coping as a theoretical lens, we generated a mobile-specific theory that comprises problem-focused and emotion-focused…
Examining consumers' intention, behavior, and beliefs in mobile banking adoption and continuous usage
2016
Changing consumer behavior continues to have a profound impact on digital banking adoption and prolonged usage in developed and emerging markets. Several factors influence the consumer decision journey when choosing any specific digital channel or combination of channels. Among a variety of digital banking channels, this dissertation research seeks to contribute to the mobile banking (m-banking) literature by examining consumer behavior in m-banking services as well as technology (application) adoption and continuous usage, especially after considering the fact that financial service institutions have entered a time when offering mobile-based services is no longer a novelty but a necessity.…

Mitä rahallistamis menetelmiä on olemassa mobiilipeleille? What are potential…
An Analysis of the Flow-Based Fast Handover Method For Mobile IPv6 Network
2006
Mobile IPv6 has been proposed by the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) to be the solution to mobility management in IPv6 network. The work is now culminating to a standard status. But, one problem still remaining is the length of the handover time, which might cause packet loss. Thus the handover time should be as short as possible. Especially the real-time traffic suffers from packet loss. Earlier we have introduced a new method for faster handover process in Mobile IPv6 network called the Flow-based Fast Handover Method for Mobile IPv6 (FFHMIPv6). FFHMIPv6 uses the flow state information stored in the routers for the fast redirection of the flow. In this paper we compare the proposed…
Factors Affecting the Consumers’ Purchase Intention and Willingness-to-Pay More for Electric-Vehicle Technology
2021
This study conducted an in-depth analysis of the factors affecting consumers’ intention to purchase and willingness to pay more for an electric vehicle (EV) in the developing-country context, extending the theory of planned behavior with two new variables: environmental concern and willingness to pay (WTP) a premium. Survey data were collected from 358 responses and were analyzed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. Multi-group analysis was conducted, and the moderating role of gender was examined. The findings showed the significant effects of the theory-of-planned-behavior variables and environmental concern on EV technology purchase intention. The present study provi…
Analysis of MAC-level throughput in LTE systems with link rate adaptation and HARQ protocols
2015
LTE is rapidly gaining momentum for building future 4G cellular systems, and real operational networks are under deployment worldwide. To achieve high throughput performance, in addition to an advanced physical layer design LTE exploits a combination of sophisticated mechanisms at the radio resource management layer. Clearly, this makes difficult to develop analytical tools to accurately assess and optimise the user perceived throughput under realistic channel assumptions. Thus, most existing studies focus only on link-layer throughput or consider individual mechanisms in isolation. The main contribution of this paper is a unified modelling framework of the MAC-level downlink throughput of …
