Mass spectrometric studies on small open-chain piperazine-containing ligands and their transition metal complexes

2001

Electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry was used to characterize the complexes formed between open-chain piperazine-containing ligands and transition metal salts (Cobalt, Copper, Zinc, and Cadmium as chlorides, nitrates, and acetates). Only single-charged complexes were observed, formed of one ligand (L) and mainly one metal ion (M). Since the net charge of the complexes was one, a counterion (X) was attached to some of the complexes, with formation of [L + M + X]+ complexes, and a proton was lost from others, as in [L − H + M]+ complexes. In most cases the composition of the complexes was more dependent on the ligand than the metal salt. Collisio…

Annular Tautomerism of 3(5)-Disubstituted-1H-pyrazoles with Ester and Amide Groups

2019

A series of disubstituted 1H-pyrazoles with methyl (1), amino (2), and nitro (3) groups, as well as ester (a) or amide (b) groups in positions 3 and 5 was synthesized, and annular tautomerism was investigated using X-ray, theoretical calculations, NMR, and FT-IR methods. The X-ray experiment in the crystal state showed for the compounds with methyl (1a, 1b) and amino (2b) groups the tautomer with ester or amide groups at position 3 (tautomer 3), but for those with a nitro group (3b, 4), tautomer 5. Similar results were obtained in solution by NMR NOE experiments in CDCl3, DMSO-d6, and CD3OD solvents. However, tautomer equilibrium was observed for 2b in DMSO. The FT-IR spectra in chloroform …

On the Intrinsic Population of the Lowest Triplet State of Thymine

2007

The population of the lowest triplet state of thymine after near-UV irradiation has been established, on the basis of CASPT2//CASSCF quantum chemical calculations, to take place via three distinct intersystem crossing mechanisms from the initially populated singlet bright 1pipi* state. Two singlet-triplet crossings have been found along the minimum-energy path for ultrafast decay of the singlet state at 4.8 and 4.0 eV, involving the lowest 3npi* and 3pipi* states, respectively. Large spin-orbit coupling elements predict efficient intersystem crossing processes in both cases. Another mechanism involving energy transfer from the lowest 1npi* state with much larger spin-orbit coupling terms ca…

Effect of tin and lead chlorotriphenyl analogues on selected living cells.

2010

Three kinds of living cells, human embryonic kidney cells, Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and Escherichia coli, were tested for their sensitivity to chlorotriphenyltin and chlorotriphenyllead. The tin compound proved definitely more toxic than the lead derivative, particularly in the case of the human embryonic kidney cells devoid of any protective cell wall. Electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) comparative studies carried out by using a natural model liposome system (egg yolk lecithin) confirmed considerable changes within the lipid bilayer upon doping by the aforementioned additives, which may be crucial to the mechanism of the observed cell cleavage. The individual dopants revealed diverse i…

Experimental and theoretical NMR studies of interaction between phenylalanine derivative and egg yolk lecithin

2014

The interaction of phenylalanine diamide (Ac-Phe-NHMe) with egg yolk lecithin (EYL) in chloroform was studied by 1H and 13C NMR. Six complexes EYL–Ac-Phe-NHMe, stabilized by N–H···O or/and C–H···O hydrogen bonds, were optimized at M06-2X/6-31G(d,p) level. The assignment of EYL and Ac-Phe-NHMe NMR signals was supported using GIAO (gauge including atomic orbital) NMR calculations at VSXC and B3LYP level of theory combined with STO-3Gmag basis set. Results of our study indicate that the interaction of peptides with lecithin occurs mainly in the polar ‘head’ of the lecithin. Additionally, the most probable lecithin site of H-bond interaction with Ac-Phe-NHMe is the negatively charged oxygen in …

Reaction of 3-Amino-1,2,4-Triazole with Diethyl Phosphite and Triethyl Orthoformate: Acid-Base Properties and Antiosteoporotic Activities of the Prod…

2017

The reaction of diethyl phosphite with triethyl orthoformate and a primary amine followed by hydrolysis is presented, and the reaction was suitable for the preparation of (aminomethylene)bisphosphonates. 3-Amino-1,2,4-triazole was chosen as an interesting substrate for this reaction because it possesses multiple groups that can serve as the amino component in the reaction-namely, the side-chain and triazole amines. This substrate readily forms 1,2,4-triazolyl-3-yl-aminomethylenebisphosphonic acid (compound 1) as a major product, along with N-ethylated bisphosphonates as side products. The in vitro antiproliferative effects of the synthesized aminomethylenebisphosphonic acids against J774E m…

2010

A set of push-pull ynamides with up to four conjugated triple bonds has been synthesized and the molecular properties of these new carbon rods have been characterised showing effective intramolecular charge transfers and high values for the change of the electrical dipole moment after transition from the ground to the Franck-Condon excited state.

Synthetic antitumor vaccines containing MUC1 glycopeptides with two immunodominant domains-induction of a strong immune response against breast tumor…

2011

A shot in the arm for cancer treatment: two MUC1 tetanus toxoid vaccines were synthesized and induced a strong immune response in mice. The antibodies elicited by the vaccines show a high selectivity for the tumor cells in mammary carcinoma tissues and also distinguish between tumor tissues at different stages.

Transport properties of 2F = F2 in a temperature gradient as studied by molecular dynamics simulations

2007

International audience; We calculate transport properties of a reacting mixture of F and F2 from results of nonequilibrium molecular dynamics simulations. The reaction investigated is controlled by thermal diffusion and is close to local chemical equilibrium. The simulations show that a formulation of the transport problem in terms of classical non-equilibrium thermodynamics theory is sound. The chemical reaction has a large effect on the magnitude and temperature dependence of the thermal conductivity and the interdiffusion coefficient. The increase in the thermal conductivity in the presence of the chemical reaction, can be understood as a response to an imposed temperature gradient, whic…
