Motor skills of young adults with Asperger syndrome: A comparative study

Motor skill difficulties are mentioned as a common feature of Asperger syndrome (AS) but specific information regarding young adults is scarce. The purposes of this study were: to compare the motor skills of young adults with AS with age and gender matched controls using the updated version of the standardized Movement Assessment battery for children (M-ABC-II), and to compare the motor skills between younger and older participants within both groups (index and control group). Motor development of infants with univentricular heart at the ages of 16 and 52 weeks

Purpose To compare the motor development of patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) and other types of univentricular heart (UVH) with peers who are healthy at the ages of 16 and 52 weeks. Methods Motor development was assessed with the Alberta Infant Motor Scale (AIMS). Results Both the 23 patients with HLHS and the 13 patients with UVH had lower total AIMS scores in both observations than the controls. At the age of 52 weeks, patients with HLHS had significantly lower scores in all 4 AIMS subscales, whereas patients with UVH had lower scores only in the prone and standing subscales. Field location and player roles as constraints on emergent 1-vs-1 interpersonal patterns of play in football

This study examined effects of player roles on interpersonal patterns of coordination that sustain decision-making in 1-vs-1 sub-phases of football in different field locations near the goal (left-, middle- and right zone). Participants were fifteen U-16 yrs players from a local competitive amateur team. To measure interpersonal patterns of coordination in the 1-vs-1 dyads we recorded: (i) the relative distance value between each attacker and defender to the centre of the goal, and (ii), the relative angle between the centre of the goal, each defender and attacker. Perceived motor competence (PMC) is important to health as it mediates the association between actual motor competence (AMC) and physical activity. Many instruments assess the broader construct of physical self-perception but no scale has been developed to assess PMC in stability. Fundamental movement skills in adolescents : secular trends from 2003 to 2010 and associations with physical activity and BMI

The aim of this study was to examine the secular trends in fundamental movement skills (FMS) among 15- to 16-year-old adolescents at 2 assessment points scheduled in 2003 and 2010 and to investigate the associations between FMS, physical activity (PA), and body mass index (BMI). In 2003, self-reported PA, weight and height, and objective FMS scores were collected from 2390 students, and in 2010, similar data were generated from a second sample of 1346 students.
