Factors affecting flavor perception in space: Does the spacecraft environment influence food intake by astronauts?

International audience; The intention to send a crewed mission to Mars involves a huge amount of planning to ensure a safe and successful mission. Providing adequate amounts of food for the crew is a major task, but 20 years of feeding astronauts on the International Space Station (ISS) have resulted in a good knowledge base. A crucial observation from the ISS is that astronauts typically consume only 80% of their daily calorie requirements when in space. This is despite daily exercise regimes that keep energy usage at very similar levels to those found on Earth. Diplomdarba autore ir angļu valodas skolotāja pirmsskolā, un ir izveidojusi angļu valodas mācību programmu "Happy Child". 2015.gadā četri skolotāji mācīja angļu valodu saskaņā ar šo programmu piecās pirmsskolas izglītības iestādēs Latvijā. Vēlme pilnveidot angļu valodas mācību programmu ir mudinājusi izmēģināt dažādas pedagoģiskās pieejas, lai uzlabotu pirmsskolas vecuma bērnu angļu valodas vārdu krājuma apguvi; kā viens no risinājumiem ir rasts multi-sensoro uzdevumu izmantojums angļu valodas stundās. In Defense of Cities : On Negative Presentation of Urban Areas in Environmental Preference Studies

This paper critiques a common research method, image-based studies, in assessing environmental preferences. The method is used, in particular, in the fields of environmental psychology, landscape studies, and health studies, here called empirical environmental preference studies or EEP studies. I argue that the established view in the EEP field that nature is inherently experienced as more aesthetically appealing and restorative than urban environments may be biased because of the image-based method. Iemācīt pirmskolas vecuma bērniem lasītprasmi un rakstītprasmi ir svarīgs izaicinājums ikvienam skolotājam. Skolotāja izvēlētā pieejai, mācot bērnus, ir svarīga loma un tā var ietekmēt bērna panākumus lasīšanā un rakstīšanā nākotnē. Diplomdarba mērķis bija izpētīt multi-sensoro pieeju angļu valodas (kā svešvalodas) stundās, lai attīstītu bērna rakstītprasmi un lasītprasmi. Par pētījuma metodi tika izvēlēts gadījuma pētījums, kurš tika veikts 9 nedēļas Rīgas 234. Pirmsskolas izglītības iestādē. Visual perspective has dominated experience research in humantechnology interaction for decades now. The neglect of other sensory modalities is gradually being addressed by scholars and designers, who investigate user experience based on touch, smell, taste, sound and even expressive bodily interactions. In cognitive and affective processes, user experience is always multi-modal, not just regarding perceived multi-sensory information, but also while perceiving through one modality we mentally construct information relevant to the other senses.
