Care Workers’ Readiness for Robotization : Identifying Psychological and Socio-Demographic Determinants

Successful implementation of robots in welfare services requires that the staff approves of them as a part of daily work tasks. In this study, we identified psychological and socio-demographic determinants associated with readiness for robotization among professional Finnish care-workers. National survey data were collected from professional care workers (n = 3800) between October and November 2016. Random samples were drawn from the member registers of two Finnish trade unions. This commentary discusses the socio-cultural context of farming and proposes ways to break related lock-ins in the context of sustainability transition research. To be able to change farming practices and design policies to promote the changes, it is essential to understand what actually needs to change. AbstractThis chapter explores how the entangled relationship between the material and social in teachers’ perceptions of change can be empirically investigated. More specifically, the chapter adopts a DeleuzoGuattarian rhizoanalytic assemblage approach and the notion of becoming to capture the dynamic and fluid nature of social and material affects. Korona-ajan opetus on vaatinut kouluilta, oppilailta ja vanhemmilta monenlaista sopeutumista. Rehtorit ja opettajat tekivät ympäripyöreää päivää huolehtiakseen oppilaista. Oppilaat kaipasivat kouluyhteisöään ja vanhemmat ohjausta lasten koulunkäynnin tukemisessa. Students' Positive Expectations and Concerns Prior to the School Transition to Lower Secondary School

This mixed-method study examines students' expectations and concerns before transitioning from primary to lower secondary school and the role of students' school-related wellbeing and self-esteem in their concerns. Students reported their beliefs about the forthcoming school transition and filled in a questionnaire assessing school burnout and self-esteem. The results showed that the students had positive expectations comprising comfort, friendships, learning, school environment, increased freedom and teacher -student relations. Tutkimuksessamme tarkastelemme kouluja, jotka ovat osoittaneet toiminnassaan innovatiivisuutta ja kehittämisorientaatiota. Suomessa kouluja ei suoranaisesti palkita tai rankkeerata esimerkiksi innovatiivisuudesta, mutta osoituksena kehittämisorientaatiostaan koulut voivat saada erilaisia tunnustuksia tai huomionosoituksia hyvistä käytänteistä, kokeiluista tai pedagogisista ratkaisuistaan. Tutkimuksemme tavoitteena on tarkastella innovatiivisina pidettyjen koulujen piirteitä ja sitä, kuinka ne itse kokevat oman innovatiivisuutensa. Tämä tutkimus tarkastelee rahapeliriippuvuudesta toipumista. Tarkastelussa on, mitä tarinoissa kerrotaan rahapeliriippuvuuden toipumisen käännekohdista ja keinoista. Lisäksi tarkastellaan, mitä annettavaa näillä edellä mainituilla on sosiaalityön käytäntöihin. Tutkimuksen aineisto koostuu kuudestatoista tarinasta, jotka kerättiin kirjoituspyynnön avulla. Teoreettisena viitekehyksenä on narratiivisuus. Lisäksi taustateoriaa on rahapeliriippuvuudesta. Tutkimuksessa pyritään samaan ymmärrystä rahapeliriippuvuudesta toipumisesta, joten narratiivisuus sopii hyvin taustateoriaksi.
