Optical Optimization of the TiO2 Mesoporous Layer in Perovskite Solar Cells by the Addition of SiO2 Nanoparticles

In this work, SiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) were integrated into the mesoporous TiO2 layer of a perovskite solar cell to investigate their effect on cell performance. Different concentrations of SiO2/ethanol have been combined in TiO2/ethanol to prepare pastes for the fabrication of the mesoporous layer with which perovskite solar cells have been fabricated. Addition of SiO2 NPs of 50 and 100 nm sizes produces an enhancement of cell performance mainly because of an improvement of the photocurrent. Directed Assembly of Soft Colloids through Rapid Solvent Exchange

We studied the directed assembly of soft nanoparticles through rapid micromixing of polymers in solution with a nonsolvent. Both experiments and computer simulations were performed to elucidate the underlying physics and to investigate the role of various process parameters. In particular, we discovered that no external stabilizing agents or charged end groups are required to keep the colloids separated from each other when water is used as the nonsolvent. Furthermore, the size of the nanoparticles can be reliably tuned through the mixing rate and the ratio between polymer solution and nonsolvent. Water-soluble magnetic nanoparticles with biologically active stabilizers

We present the results of the interaction of iron oxide nanoparticles with some biologically active surfactants, namely, oleic acid and cytotoxic alkanolamine derivatives. Physico-chemical properties, as magnetization, magnetite concentration and particle diameter, of the prepared magnetic samples were studied. The nanoparticle size of 11 nm for toluene magnetic fluid determined by TEM is in good agreement with the data obtained by the method of magnetogranulometry. In vitro cytotoxic effect of water-soluble nanoparticles with different iron oxide:oleic acid molar ratio were revealed against human fibrosarcoma and mouse hepatoma cells. Relating magnetization, structure and rheology in ferrofluids with multi-core magnetic nanoparticles

Abstract Due to their magnetic moments solubilized magnetic nanoparticles are able to spontaneously assemble into dipolar mesostructures, which affect the flow behavior. Multi-core magnetic nanoparticles developed for biomedical applications have enhanced magnetic properties and show significant magnetoviscous effect, but the quantitative interpretation of this phenomenon is incomplete. We apply rheological measurements, magnetic granulometry and dimensional scaling to show the existence of a master curve for magnetorheology of these materials. Using the developed approach the magnetoviscous effect can now be interpreted in a unified way within the stochastic chain model.

Abstract We study the magnetorheological properties and structural transitions in novel aqueous colloidal suspensions of magnetic nanoparticles developed for biomedical applications. Defined-shape field-tunable superparamagnetic nanoparticles with clustered cores and their suspensions are produced. The region of intermediate magnetic coupling strength between colloidal ferrofluids and magnetorheological suspensions is systematically studied for the first time. Thermoosmotic transfer of sterically stabilized ferrofluid particles in non-isothermal capillary porous layer

Experiments on thermodiffusive transfer of ferrofluid nanoparticles in capillary porous layer are presented. The layer consists of a number of capillary filter sheets pressed between two plates of different temperatures. Steady profiles of particle concentration are detected after the experiment from magnetization of each filter sheet. It is shown that particle separation in porous layer is remarkably influenced by thermoosmotic forces. The observed effect is different for colloids of various surfactants and of various carrier liquids.
