Synthesis of polymeric derivatives of isoniazid: characterization and in vitro release from a water-soluble adduct with polysuccinimide.

1989

Coupling of isoniazid with polysuccinimide afforded a water-insoluble polymeric pro-drug; by reaction with ethanolamine it was chemically transformed in a water-soluble adduct. The in vitro release of isoniazid from the drug-polymer adduct was studied by using an artificial stomach wall lipid membrane. The transfer rate constant from simulated gastric juice to simulated plasma was defined and compared with that of an equivalent dose of pure drug.

EXAFS and XRD study of Pd–Ag bimetallic catalysts supported on pumice from organometallic precursors

2001

Abstract Silver–palladium bimetallic catalysts were supported on pumice following different procedures, based on mild treatments of organometallic precursors. The experiments for the structural characterization of the synthesized samples, wide angle X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray absorption spectroscopy, were carried out at the beamline GILDA of the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility. The analysis of the data demonstrated that alloying took place with a degree of homogeneity depending on the different preparation routes.

Optical properties of natural topaz

2013

The results of investigation of infrared, Raman and UV-Visible absorption spectra of natural topaz crystals from Ukraine before and after fast neutron irradiation are presented. We assume that the ~ 620 nm band in topaz crystals is associated with the presence of Cr 3+ , Fe 2+ and Mn 2+ impurities. The broad band with maxima at 650 cm -1 observed in Raman spectra for topaz irradiated by fast neutrons may be connected with lattice disorder. Exchange interaction between radiation defect and impurity ions during neutron irradiation leads to appearance of additional absorption band in UV-VIS spectra and bands broadening in infrared and Raman spectra of investigated crystals.

Chromo-Fluorogenic Detection of Nerve-Agent Mimics Using Triggered Cyclization Reactions in Push-Pull Dyes

2010

A family of azo and stilbene derivatives (1-9) are synthesized, and their chromo-fluorogenic behavior in the presence of nerve-agent simulants, diethylchlorophosphate (DCP), diisopropylfluorophosphate (DFP), and diethylcyanophosphate (DCNP) in acetonitrile and mixed solution of water/acetonitrile (3:1 v/v) buffered at pH 5.6 with MES, is investigated. The prepared compounds contain 2-(2-N,N-dimethylaminophenyl)ethanol or 2-[(2-N,N-dimethylamino)phenoxy]ethanol reactive groups, which are part of the conjugated pi-system of the dyes and are able to give acylation reactions with phosphonate substrates followed by a rapid intramolecular N-alkylation. The nerve-agent mimic-triggered cyclization …

Characterization of particle morphology of biochanin A molecularly imprinted polymers and their properties as a potential sorbent for solid-phase ext…

2014

Abstract Molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs) with biochanin A as a template were obtained using a bulk polymerization with non-covalent imprinting approach. The polymers were prepared in acetonitrile as porogen, using ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EDMA) as cross-linking agent. The synthesis, with an application of 1′,1′-azobis(cyclohexanecarbonitrile) (ACHN) as an initiator, has been performed thermally. During the synthesis process the effect of different functional monomers such as methacrylic acid (MAA), acrylamide (AA) and 4-vinylpyridine (4-VP) was investigated. The application of nitrogen sorption porosimetry, scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and Fourier transform infrared spec…

Some observations on the determination of total heavy metals in sewage sludge by atomic absorption spectrophotometry after a pressurized acid digesti…

1990

Abstract An economical and simple method for the flame atomic absorption spectrometric determination of Cd, Pb, Ni, Cu, Fe, and Zn in sewage sludges is described. Samples are treated with concentrated HNO 3 in a thermal oven using Pyrex glass tubes hermetically sealed with Bakelite screw caps. The effect of the digestion parameters, such as digestion time, acid volume, sample mass, and temperature, were studied. The precision and accuracy of this procedure were evaluated by the analysis of two BCR (Community Bureau of Reference, European Communities) certified sewage sludge samples (CRM 146 and 144).

Nano-magnetic potassium impregnated ceria as catalyst for the biodiesel production

2019

Abstract The main objective of this work comprises the investigation of biodiesel production from rapeseed oil using potassium impregnated Fe3O4-CeO2 nanocatalyst. The various concentration of potassium impregnated Fe3O4-CeO2 was screened for catalytic conversion of rapeseed oil to triglyceride methyl ester. The 25 wt % potassium impregnated Fe3O4-CeO2 nanocatalyst showed best biodiesel production. Nanocatalyst was characterized by FTIR, XRD, SEM, TEM, BET and Hammett indicator for basicity test. The characterization of biodiesel was performed with GC-MS, 1H and 13C NMR. Moreover, the optimum reaction parameters such as catalyst amount (wt %), oil to methanol ratio, reaction time and reacti…

Chemical initiation for butyl and lauryl acrylate monolithic columns for CEC.

2009

Butyl acrylate (BA)- and lauryl acrylate (LA)-based monolithic stationary phases for CEC were synthesized, using a redox system as initiator of polymerization. BA monoliths were initiated with ammonium peroxodisulfate, whereas LA columns were obtained with lauroyl peroxide as initiator. In both cases, TEMED was used to activate the process. The influence of porogenic solvent composition on both morphological and electrochromatographic properties of the resulting monoliths was investigated. Excellent efficiencies (minimum plate heights of 4.2-6.3 microm for BA columns and 2.6-5.3 microm for LA stationary phases, for a PAHs mixture) were achieved. The capability of separation of both types of…

Preparation and Promotion of Fruit Growth in Kiwifruit of Fluorinated N-Phenyl-N‘-1,2,3-thiadiazol-5-yl Ureas

2004

Seventeen phenyl-fluorinated analogues of thidiazuron [N-phenyl-N'-(1,2,3-thiadiazol-5-yl)urea, TDZ] have been prepared and characterized. The effects of each fluorinated urea on growth and quality of kiwifruits (Actinidia deliciosa) were evaluated by comparison with untreated (control) and TDZ-treated fruits. The results obtained showed a clear dependence of the growth-promoting activity of these fluorinated ureas on the pattern and degree of fluorine substitution in the phenyl ring. The most effective for promoting fruit growth was N-(2,3,5,6-tetrafluorophenyl)-N'-(1',2',3'-thiadiazol-5'-yl)urea at 25 ppm (at harvest, treated fruits were 58% heavier than untreated ones) followed by N-(3,5…
