Sul lessico politico di Diodoro: synteleia

Lo storico Diodoro è stato spesso ritenuto mediocre dalla tradizione moderna e utile solo come contenitore di storici precedenti le cui opere sono andate perdute. In realtà Diodoro è uno storico che possiede un suo grado di autonomia e va valutato nel suo complesso e come autore in sé definito. Scopo dell'articolo è mostrare questo qualità della sua Biblioteca Storica attraverso un sondaggio particolare, l'esame del termine synteleia.

Il profondo lavoro di revisione che, in modo molto incisivo a partire dagli anni ’80 ma con interventi importanti già in anni precedenti, ha modificato il giudizio storiografico su Diodoro consente di gettare una luce nuova su un’opera in realtà centrale per la comprensione di ampi periodi della storia greca e per l’analisi della sua ricezione nel I secolo a.C.

The historical events that involved Sicily at the end of the 5th century BC find a precise description in the X-XIII books of Diodorus Siculus. The numismatic testimonies from the territory of central-southern Sicily, in addition to confirming what has been illustrated by the historian of Agira, integrate and enrich the information, adding data for the same period relating above all to the indigenous centres, neglected by the sources.

In the proem of his Bibliotheke, Diodorus Siculus states that a historian should provide knowledge for all mankind. Hence, the value of a historian is not measured by his ability to gather in a single narrative stories of men from all times all over the world. What matters is the way in which the common human nature of all of the actors in history emerges. The ecdysteroid (ES) content of the soft tick Ornithodoros moubata was investigated during the five successive nymphal molting cycles by means of an enzyme immunoassay (EIA). Samples were submitted to esterase hydrolysis in order to release free ecdysteroids from the acyl-ester conjugates (AP = apolar products). Crude and hydrolysed extracts were then analyzed by EIA using two different antibodies, a monoclonal raised against 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) and a polychlonal raised against ecdysone (E).
