Laboratoriotöiden tavoitteiden saavuttaminen fysiikan perus- ja aineopintokursseilla : kvantitatiivinen tutkimus opiskelijoiden kokemuksista

Tämän työn tarkoituksena oli selvittää opiskelijoiden kokemuksia fysiikan perus- ja aineopintokurssien laboratoriotöiden hyödyllisyydestä. Tutkimus toteutettiin kyselyaineistolla, joka kerättiin Jyväskylän yliopiston fysiikan laitoksen oppilaslaboratoriossa kevään ja kesän 2016 aikana. Opiskelijat vastasivat kyselyyn vapaaehtoisesti suoritettuaan jonkin laboratoriotyön. Kerätyn aineiston pohjalta (\(N=154\) ) analysoitiin kvantitatiivisesti opiskelijoiden kokemuksia kehittymisestä viidessä keskeisessä laboratoriotyön tavoitteessa. Cancer stem cells are defined as cells able to both extensively self-renew and differentiate into progenitors. Cancer stem cells are thus likely to be responsible for maintaining or spreading a cancer, and may be the most relevant targets for cancer therapy. The CD133 glycoprotein was recently described as a reliable cancer stem-like cell marker in colon carcinoma. CD133+ cells are both necessary and sufficient to initiate tumour growth in animal models. [ES] En el presente trabajo presentamos un proyecto de biología sintética de nivel profesional adaptado a estudiantes de primer curso. Describimos las adaptaciones necesarias para hacerlo asequible para unas prácticas de laboratorio, tanto a nivel pedagógico como en cuanto a la viabilidad económica de los materiales utilizados. El proyecto pretende la motivación de los estudiantes del Grado en Biotecnología mediante la introducción temprana de la actividad profesional real en biomedicina, así como la adquisición de una serie de competencias del trabajo práctico en el laboratorio imprescindibles para el biotecnólogo en formación.

[EN] University students of experimental sciences degrees usually go to the laboratory of practices without having prepared the corresponding activity. This fact leads to a poor preparation of them translated into an effective loss of time available for experimentation, and a reduced acquisition of knowledge and skills, among other aspects. In order to solve this problem, in the present communication, the use of on-line questionnaires using the Socrative platform is described to be used as a prior evaluation system to access the laboratory. [EN] The so-called “threshold concepts” are present in all areas of study. Its acquisition by the student represents a milestone in the advancement of the conceptual understanding of a subject. They are often difficult to learn, but when they are overcome they generate a reconceptualization that allows progress and deepening in the subject of study. We present an activity designed to develop a key threshold concept in pharmacology, the drug discovery process. To do this, we develop a practical laboratory project that will integrate both the extraction and search for active ingredients and the simulation of some aspects of their clinical trials in the phase I.

This technique is fundamental to study the biological, biochemical and physiological properties of cells and can be used as an experimental model in vitro in the field of biomedical research. The teaching in the laboratory of this technique presents numerous difficulties at a practical, logistical and economic level. On the other hand, the learning of cell culture protocols is an important part of the student's training in Cell Biology.
