Resist-based silver nanocomposites synthesized by lithographic methods
2010
In this work, the formation of silver metal nanoparticles inside a negative-tone resist based on poly(vinyl alcohol) is achieved by electron beam lithography. The chemistry of this sensitive resist allows the production of nanoparticles as well as the polymer crosslinking by the electron radiation. Due to the presence of the silver nanoparticles, the final composite exhibits a plasmonic behavior, which was characterized by measuring the absorbance. The lithographic properties of the resist have been characterized. The technique has also been exported to UV lithography, where silver nanoparticles are obtained inside the polymeric patterns after optical lithography.
Applicability of a binary amplitude mask for creating correctors of higher-order ocular aberrations in a photoresistive layer
2012
Ocular aberrations can be corrected with wavefront correctors created in a photoresist layer. The simplest type of the mask used in optical lithography is a binary amplitude mask. It is known that such a mask has a periodic hole pattern. The purpose of this research was to assess applicability of a binary amplitude mask for creating ocular wavefront correctors. The photoresist was applied to the substrate by using the dip-coating method. The photoresist layer was illuminated through a mask printed on a transparent film by using a laser printer. The surface of the wavefront correctors was evaluated by aberrometry, scanning electron microscopy and profilometry method. The dip-coating method c…
Numerical study of photolithography system: electromagnetic differential method
2004
The R-matrix propagation algorithm is incorporated into the differential method to achieve an extended capability for modelling a photolithography systems. We show throughout this work the ability of the R-matrix algorithm and differential method to analyse gratings of arbitrary depth, profile, and conductivity without encountering numerical instabilities. We calculate the field intensity and the transmitted amplitudes in the 0 and −1 orders below different masks. We study also the influence of the various parameters (incidence, groove spacing, groove depth and index of refraction) on the field intensity maps and the transmittivity power. These results agree with the experimental patent: we…
Zircon ages of high-grade gneisses in the Eastern Erzgebirge (Central European Variscides)—constraints on origin of the rocks and Precambrian to Ordo…
2001
Abstract This study is an attempt to unravel the tectono-metamorphic history of high-grade metamorphic rocks in the Eastern Erzgebirge region. Metamorphism has strongly disturbed the primary petrological genetic characteristics of the rocks. We compare geological, geochemical, and petrological data, and zircon populations as well as isotope and geochronological data for the major gneiss units of the Eastern Erzgebirge; (1) coarse- to medium-grained “Inner Grey Gneiss”, (2) fine-grained “Outer Grey Gneiss”, and (3) “Red Gneiss”. The Inner and Outer Grey Gneiss units (MP–MT overprinted) have very similar geochemical and mineralogical compositions, but they contain different zircon populations…
Patterning of Conducting Polymers Using UV Lithography: The in-Situ Polymerization Approach
2012
We report on the in-situ polymerization of 3T with Cu(ClO4)2 inside several host polymers such as Novolak-based negative-tone photoresist, polystyrene (PS), poly(4-vinylphenol) (P4VP), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), and poly(4-vinylphenol)-co-(methyl methacrylate) (P4VP-co-MMA) to form an interpenetrating polymer network (IPN). Conducting IPN films in the order of 10–4–150 S/cm are obtained depending on the specific IPN composition. Moreover, the convenience of this synthetic approach has been demonstrated using a commercially available negative-tone photoresist based on Novolak as a host polymer. Novolak photoresist was properly formulated with 3T and Cu(ClO4)2 to preserve as far as pos…
3D defect engineering in polymer opals
2006
The possibility to create defined structures inside a synthetic opal is a key step towards applications in optics, where control of the propagation of light inside a photonic crystal is necessary. Here we report different methods for realizing defined embedded defects in opaline structures. Monodisperse colloids are synthesized by surfactant free emulsion polymerization of the acid labile monomer t-butyl-methacrylate (tBMA). The PtBMA colloids can be filled with sensitizer and photo acid generator and it is possible to crystallize them into photosensitive polymer opals. One method for the introduction of defects is a multilayer build-up of photo-labile (filled with photo acid generator) and…
U-Pb zircon geochronology and phase equilibria modelling of a mafi c eclogite from the Sumdo complex of south-east Tibet: insights into prograde zirc…
2017
Abstract The Sumdo complex is a Permian–Triassic eclogitic metamorphic belt in south-east Tibet, which marks the location of a suture zone that separates the northern and southern Lhasa terranes. An integrated geochronological and petrological study of a mafic eclogite from the complex has constrained its tectonometamorphic history and provides a case study of zircon growth in eclogite as a product of prograde dissolution–precipitation. In situ U–Pb geochronology indicates that the eclogite contains a single population of zircon with a crystallisation age of 273.6 ± 2.8 Ma. The morphology and chemistry of the zircon grains are consistent with growth by dissolution–precipitation of protolith…
Otolith chemical composition suggests local populations of Antarctic silverfish Pleuragramma antarctica (Boulenger, 1902) around Antarctica are expos…
2021
The Antarctic silverfish Pleuragramma antarctica is a key species in the Southern Ocean ecosystem, and it is potentially threatened by the climate change affecting Antarctic ecosystems. Assessing the possible exposure to similar or different environmental conditions at early life stages and gathering information about connectivity or segregation between local populations of P. antarctica can be key for planning sound management strategies for this species. By using Laser Ablation Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry, we characterized the otolith chemical composition of 163 adult Antarctic silverfish collected from three areas located thousands of kilometers apart from each other: Ca…
Nonlinear nystagmus processing causes torsional VOR nonlinearity.
2003
The eye movement component that rotates around the line of sight, i.e., the ocular torsion, is in many aspects different from horizontal and vertical eye movements. While ocular torsion is mediated only by reflexive pathways like the torsional vestibulo-ocular and optokinetic reflexes (TVOR and OKN, respectively), horizontal and vertical components are also subject to intentional control mechanisms that are mediated by the saccadic and the pursuit systems. Dynamic properties of torsional eye movements are also very distinct. While horizontal and vertical VOR components show a gain close to unity and a small neural integration leakage with a time constant around pi=30 s, the TVOR shows a sma…
