Recently, it has been suggested that c-myc expression might correlate with estrogen receptor (ER) status and metastatic spread in ovarian cancer. In this study, expression of c-myc mRNA in 90 epithelial ovarian carcinomas was determined using the S1 nuclease protection assay. Expression of c-myc mRNA was detectable in 27 of 90 tumors. There was no significant association between c-myc mRNA expression and metastatic spread, survival time, FIGO stage, or histologic grade and type. C-myc mRNA was expressed in 45% of ER-positive tumors but only 24% of ER-negative tumors (p = 0.094; Fisher's exact test). The bioengineered tissue plasminogen activator tenecteplase is an important treatment modality of acute myocardial infarction recommended by international guidelines. Following introduction of originator tenecteplase (brand names Metalyse(®) and TNKase(®)), a "biosimilar" tenecteplase became available for commercial use in India under the brand name Elaxim(®) in the absence of Indian biosimilar guidelines which came into force from September 15th, 2012. Introduction: Myo-inositol (MI) and D-chiro-inositol (DCI) play a key role in ovarian physiology, as they are second messengers of insulin and gonadotropins. Ex-vivo and in-vitro experiments demonstrate that both isomers are deeply involved in steroid biosynthesis, and that reduced MI-to-DCI ratios are associated with pathological imbalance of sex hormones. The oxidative DNA damage induced by the polar photosensitizer Ro19-8022 in the presence of light was studied and correlated with the associated mutagenicity. Full-length cDNA of hamster bcl-2 (771 nt) was cloned by RT-PCR and inserted into pGEX-4T-1 to produce the recombinant hamster Bcl-2 protein. The purified recombinant Bcl-2 protein (26.4 kDa) was used as a substrate for the active human caspase-3 and caspase-9 in vitro. It is shown here that Bcl-2 is efficiently cleaved by caspase-3 to a 23 kDa fragment. Although not possessing a putative caspase-9 cleavage site in its sequence, hamster Bcl-2 was also cleaved by caspase-9 into exactly the same 23 kDa cleavage product, indicating that cleavage occurred at the same site. Rhododendron shoot regeneration was accomplished using either flower explants (each consisting of ovary with pedicel) of Rhododendron cvs. Nova Zembla and Irina or leaves isolated from in vitro grown Rhododendron catawbiense Michx. Multiple shoot tip clumps were obtained on Anderson's medium containing 0.5 to 1.5 mg dm−3 thidiazuron (TDZ) in combination with 12 to 15 mg dm−3 N6-[2-isopentenyl]adenine (2iP) and 1 to 3 mg dm−3 indole-3-butyric acid (IBA).
