Women’s Multifaceted Citizenship : Identity, Belonging and Spaces of Participation in Rural Uganda

This article analyses manifestations of women’s citizenship in diverse spaces of everyday participation in the rural districts of Kiboga and Namutumba in Uganda. Building on citizenship studies scholarship, we propose the notion of multifaceted citizenship, which ‘takes place’ in the same spaces of participation as processes of identity formation and belonging. Thus, our article also explores how identities and belonging manifest in spaces of participation. Drawing on content analysis of 50 qualitative interviews, we begin by investigating the spaces of participation that are experienced as meaningful by women. Educational reforms worldwide have resulted in schools increasingly incorporating open and flexible classroom designs that may provide possibilities to reduce sedentary behavior among students during lessons. Cross-sectional associations of classroom type on accelerometry assessed sedentary bout durations and sit-to-stand transitions were investigated in 191 third and fifth grade students recruited from one school with open learning spaces and two schools with conventional classrooms. Let n be a large integer, and let G be the standard Gaussian vector in Rn. Paouris, Valettas and Zinn (2015) showed that for all p∈[1,clogn], the variance of the ℓnp-norm of G is equivalent, up to a constant multiple, to 2ppn2/p−1, and for p∈[Clogn,∞], to (logn)−1. Here, C,c>0 are universal constants. That result left open the question of estimating the variance for p logarithmic in n. In this paper, the question is resolved by providing a complete characterization of Var∥G∥p for all p. The Hajłasz Capacity Density Condition is Self-improving

We prove a self-improvement property of a capacity density condition for a nonlocal Hajlasz gradient in complete geodesic spaces with a doubling measure. The proof relates the capacity density condition with boundary Poincare inequalities, adapts Keith-Zhong techniques for establishing local Hardy inequalities and applies Koskela-Zhong arguments for proving self-improvement properties of local Hardy inequalities.
